Peepstone, Urim & Thummim, many different views on how the Book of Mormon  was translated.  Jonathan lays out a great picture of why we can trust that the Urim and Thummim was used throughout the entire process.  Excellent source material in this book .

190 Book of Abraham - Honest questions p5

190 Book of Abraham - Honest questions p5

Part 5 of our series where we ask honest questions about the restoration history.   This week we discuss the Book of Abraham.  The LDS hold it as scripture, the RLDS had mixed opinions but never fully adopted it as scripture and today it is not used.

Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon  from plates that were revealed to him by an angel.  Shortly after completing the translation he organized a church.  Revelations from God were given through him and recorded and published in various forms and versions.  He wrote The Book of Abraham, built Temples, brought forth the modern concept of Zion, a holy city, to be established in Independence, MO, produced a new version of the King James Version of the Bible with additions and corrections, as inspired by God, among other things.   It is a  colorful history tied to polygamy, murder, division, prophecy, and a restored authoritative priesthood.   We will look at some things that are not talked about openly, question honestly, and discuss what happened in the last 200 years with this young movement.

189 Jacob Isbell interview from Disciple of Christ channel

189 Jacob Isbell interview from Disciple of Christ channel

I had the privilege to interview Jacob Isbell who has a you tube channel Disciple of Christ.  He interviews those who have chosen to follow Jesus over the LDS church they grew up in when the realize the teaching of the church vary from the Word of God.   He grew up LDS, served a mission, did work in the Temple.     You won’t be bored.   I hope you enjoy his testimony as he shares his journey in treasuring the Word over church when those two are no longer compatible.

188 David Whitmer views on Choice Seer - Honest questions p4

Part 4 of our series where we ask honest questions about the restoration history.   This week we discuss what David Whitmer thought, if he is the "choice seer" as spoken about in 2 Nephi.

186 Joseph Smith -"Choice Seer?" Honest questions p3

Part 3 of our series where we ask honest questions about the restoration history.  Last episode we agreed that based on scripture, Joseph Smith  did indeed fit the role of seer.  This week we discuss if he is the "choice seer" as spoken about in 2 Nephi.

Excellent Discussions

Great discussions for investigators and seasoned members of Latter Day Saint Churches. Geared more for members of Restoration Branches and Restorationist RLDS members but easily accessible for members of the LdS (Mormon) Church and even Traditional RLDS/Community of Christ members. I’m a member of Community of Christ/RLDS and enjoy listening to these podcasts, it allows me to explore deeper into church heritage and history. The discussions are engaging and can challenge preconceived notions and is Faithful to the Spirit of the Restoration! Highly recommend!!!

Informative and encouraging!

I am living far away from my church family and have no one to fellowship with. These conversations have been such a blessing to me as I am returning to my faith after many years.
