Human Life Value with Michael Isom

Human Life Value with Michael Isom

    Human Life Value

    Take away:
The importance of doing deep inner work to uncover and let go of limiting beliefs and childhood traumas that may be unconsciously shaping our perspectives, actions, and ability to trust ourselves and others as adults.

    Money Learnings:
Michael Isom started working at a local motorcycle dealership when he was in 7th grade, earning $2.25 an hour. He used the money he earned to pay for things he wanted like clothes for school, motorcycle parts, and dating expenses.
In his senior year of high school, he paid his mom $100 per month in rent to help out the family. Michael attributes learning the value of money from his ability to earn it himself and spend it as he wished from a young age. He emphasizes that there is no substitute for allowing kids to earn and spend money themselves to truly understand its value. This was a key financial lesson he learned growing up and something he practiced with his own children as well.

    Bio:
Michael Isom has dedicated his life to empowering conversations around production and protection. He passionately believes that we are living during the most extraordinary time in human history. Entrepreneurs are going to create more wealth for themselves and society over the next decade than we did during the entire 20th century.
Michael built the financial firm Vault AIS for you to understand and leverage the principles underlying these economic forces at play.
Co-Author of What Would The Rockefellers Do, Michael speaks across the country inspiring business owners and professionals on The AIS Triangle. A unique system to pay less in tax, safeguard money, access that money along the way, earn interest versus paying it, ensuring money survives from one generation to the other and simplifying personal finance.

    Highlights from this episode:
The importance of allowing children to earn and spend their own money to truly learn the value of a dollar.
Examining the human life value balance sheet - identifying assets like knowledge, relationships, and values versus liabilities like limiting beliefs and negativity.
The transformative power of doing deep inner work to uncover childhood traumas and stories that shape our perspectives and actions as adults.
Finding clarity on our true wants and needs through practices like journaling, meditation, and self-reflection.
Considering our careers/businesses as our #1 investment where we should take risks and maintain passion, rather than gambling in areas outside our expertise.
Fulfilling the higher human needs of growth and contribution as a path to true significance.
Cultivating trust in oneself and gaining diverse experiences, especially in youth, to discover one's area of passion and expertise.

You're Not Broken with Chris Duncan

You're Not Broken with Chris Duncan

    You're Not Broken

    Take away:
Your past does not define your future. You can create the life you want without having to "fix" yourself, and that true abundance comes from recognizing the richness that already exists in your present circumstances.

    Money Learnings:
Growing up in New Zealand, Chris didn't receive much education about money management. The common mindset was to trade time for money, with the belief that you could never have enough. His understanding of money was focused on getting a good job, working hard, and trying to get paid as much as possible. It wasn't until Chris was around 11 years old that he witnessed a family friend buy a nightclub, which was the first business owner he knew personally. This event opened his eyes to the possibility of starting a business and doing something different. However, Chris grew up in a more socialist society where the focus was on ensuring the "little guy" didn't get left behind, rather than encouraging entrepreneurship and wealth creation. This created a challenging environment for developing a business mindset.

    Bio:
Chris Duncan is a New York Times best-selling author, investor, and entrepreneur. Having built two 8- figure companies, and selling one, Chris is now focused on his third multi-million dollar endeavor.
A pioneer of the superconscious movement, with over 30,000 students each year undergoing the recode process, Chris was also featured in the 2019 documentary ‘We Rise Up’, along with the likes of Tony Robbins and the 14th Dalai Lam.

    Highlights from this episode:
Understand that the past does not define your future - let go of limiting beliefs and create a new path forward.
Discover your "super consciousness" - access your higher intelligence and genius to create without limitations.
Define what a "good life" means to you, not based on societal or family expectations.
Implement the "Profit First" system to ensure your business is generating adequate profits.
Entrepreneurship is a journey of developing key skills - focus on mastering each step rather than getting discouraged.
Financial freedom allows you to design your ideal lifestyle, but fulfillment comes from purpose, not just wealth.
Abundance is a mindset - recognize how much you already have rather than constantly chasing more.

How to Master Your Financial Psychology with Brad Klontz

How to Master Your Financial Psychology with Brad Klontz

How to Master Your Financial Psychology

    Take away:
Developing an internal locus of control, where you take responsibility for your financial outcomes instead of blaming external factors, is a powerful mindset that can lead to significantly improved financial behaviors and outcomes.

    Money Learnings:
Brad grew up in a lower-income family, with his parents divorcing when he was young. Both sets of grandparents lived in trailer parks, so he was very aware of the challenges and limitations of being poor. This drove Brad to want to figure out how to not experience the same financial struggles as his family. He developed an intense interest in understanding the psychology behind why "reasonably intelligent people do something so stupid" with their money. Brad credits this early curiosity and drive to understand money as the foundation for his later career path in financial psychology and his mission to help people improve their financial behaviors and mindsets.

    Bio:
Bradley T. Klontz, Psy.D., CFP® is an expert in financial psychology, behavioral finance, and financial planning. He is a Managing Principal of YMW Advisors, an Associate Professor of Practice at Creighton University Heider College of Business, and a founder of the Financial Psychology Institute®.

Dr. Klontz has written eight books on the psychology of money and his work has been featured on ABC News' 20/20, Good Morning America, and in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and many more.

    Highlights from this episode:
The importance of understanding your family's relationship with money and how it shapes your own beliefs and behaviors around money.
The concept of "money avoidance" - the belief that rich people are greedy and money is corrupting, which can lead to self-sabotaging financial behaviors.
The danger of the "money focus" or "money worship" mindset, where material possessions are equated with happiness, leading to unhealthy outcomes.
The power of automating savings and creating a clear vision for your financial future, rather than just focusing on the present moment.
The importance of finding purpose and meaning beyond just accumulating wealth, and the potential pitfalls of having too much free time.
The idea that "retirement is for dead people" and the value of continually working towards new goals, even after achieving financial freedom.
The emphasis on developing an internal locus of control, where you take responsibility for your financial outcomes rather than blaming external factors.

    Scaling Up with Corwin Smith

    Scaling Up with Corwin Smith

    Scaling Up

    Take away:
Putting the right people systems and processes in place is critical for reducing the burden on the business owner, improving profitability, and allowing the business to run more smoothly and successfully. Implementing these structured people management practices is key to achieving sustainable growth.

    Money Learnings:
Corwin's early childhood was marked by financial abundance - his father was very successful in agricultural sales and lived a lavish lifestyle with private planes, a car collection, and more. However, when his father's company was sold and he lost his job, the family then went through periods of extreme "famine or feast" as his father's subsequent business ventures failed. Corwin's mother worked full-time in low-paying jobs, but her income was not enough to provide financial stability for the family. This upbringing of oscillating between wealth and scarcity instilled in Corwin the perspective that money is hard to come by and that financial situations can drastically change, despite his father's entrepreneurial efforts. It taught him that money has an inherent insecurity and unpredictability to it.

    Bio:
Corwin J. Smith is a Valuation Growth Coach, certified in Scaling Up/The Rockefeller Habits by Verne Harnish since 2016. He possesses expertise in diverse methodologies including Spiral Dynamics, 5 Behaviors of a Cohesive Team, and Metronomics. Currently, Corwin specializes in aiding companies across sectors like medicine, professional services, cannabis, and manufacturing, with a focused effort in recent years on blue-collar industries and trades. His clients typically achieve substantial results, including a 40% reduction in management time, doubling of net profit, and a 500-800% increase in business valuation. Corwin's entrepreneurial journey began at the WP Carey Business School, where he founded a Fire & Water Damage restoration company, rapidly growing it to 45 employees in less than four years. Prior to this venture, he made significant strides in medical sales for a local diagnostic imaging firm, setting records in new patient and doctor acquisition. His tenure at Rocky Mountain Restoration was marked by high praise and media coverage in the Arizona Republic and Success Magazine, reflecting the impactful culture and work of the organization. On a personal front, Corwin is deeply invested in his family life, alongside his wife, dedicating themselves to raising their four sons to be productive and fulfilled members of society. An avid outdoorsman, Smith relishes mountain biking, hiking, and hunting in the wilderness of Arizona. He is also a devoted supporter of his children's sporting activities. Further extending his commitment to the community, Corwin offers his expertise through unpaid mentorship to upcoming business owners in the local Entrepreneur's Organization chapter.

    Highlights from this episode:
The importance of having a clear vision, mission, and values for your business that align with your life purpose and goals.
Strategies for reducing the time required to manage the day-to-day operations of your business, such as implementing structured meeting rhythms and delegating tasks you don't enjoy.
The value of proper hiring practices, including assessing candidates for cultural fit, skill set match, and motivational drivers using behavior assessments.
Techniques for improving profitability, such as implementing a salary cap based on profit targets and addressing underperforming team members.
The benefits of creating a comprehensive life plan that harmonizes your personal goals across relationships, health, spirituality, and business.
The importance of decisiveness and taking action, rather than getting stuck in analysis paralysis when making tough business decisions.
Wisdom for younger entrepreneurs on following their passion and unraveling the programming and fears instilled by parents/upbringing.

The Science of Awakening Your Non-Self with Clement Decrop

The Science of Awakening Your Non-Self with Clement Decrop

The Science of Awakening Your Non-Self

    Take away:
To embark on a journey of personal growth by continually questioning, learning, and striving to see beyond the surface-level illusions that constrain so many people's perceptions of what is possible.

    Money Learnings:
Clement Decrop grew up where money came in the form of a reward  system for doing well in school. His parents would give him 1 dollar to 5 dollars based on his grades on his report card - 5 dollars for an A, 4 dollars for a B, etc. Even though it wasn't a lot of money, it was motivating for him as a kid, as he could save up and buy things like $40 video games back then. This reward system taught him to value money from a young age and incentivized him to perform well academically.

    Bio:
Clement Decrop is a master inventor with 50+ patents filed, public speaker, and author of "The Idea Space: Awakening Your Non-Self"

    Highlights from this episode:
Exploring the concept of an "idea space" - a mental model for understanding the mind based on physics and general relativity.
The importance of mindfulness practices like meditation and focusing on the breath to cultivate presence and gratitude.
Strategies for letting go of attachments and reducing the intensity of negative emotions.
The value of reading widely and exposing yourself to different perspectives to challenge your perception of reality.
Techniques like negative visualization and "last time" meditation from Stoic philosophy to build resilience.
Raising children with the right balance of struggle and support to instill grit and wisdom.
Reframing societal norms and systems as "veils of illusion" can blind us from deeper truths about existence.
