S2 - E06 - "F" - Fiona Apple - Fugazi - with Erica from Raven Heights Press File Under: Entertainment Podcast

    • TV & Film

Finding where we fit in, we continue on with the letter F.

Joining me this go round is Erica from Raven Heights Photo, a photographer, zinester, and soon to be operational vinyl store merchant as she opens up Bird City Records in La Plata, MD on April 28th!

Super Producer Jared, from 'Feathers And Friends' and 'Parrot Gaming Productions' is behind the scenes, performing the magic of music embedding and fact checking / emotional support.

That's right! The positive feedback has been amazing, with all that have reached out saying that they enjoyed the new method of having the music within the episode itself, so we are sticking with it for as long as we can.

In this episode, we discuss Fiona Apple, and Fugazi.

The songs discussed, in order, are:

Fiona Apple - Fast As You Can

Fiona Apple - Cosmonauts

Fiona Apple - Werewolf

Fiona Apple - Love Ridden

Fiona Apple - Never Is A Promise

Fugazi - Facet Squared

Fugazi - Rend It

Fugazi - Reclamation

Fugazi - Blueprint

Fugazi - Suggestion

Caution / Trigger Warning, we do discuss sexual assault and sexual violence in this episode. Unfortunately, it is a synchronous thread that both of these artists have experienced and/or discussed extensively. While we think that it is important to talk about to erase the stigma of victims being shamed, we understand that it is not something that everyone is comfortable with, so if you, or a loved one you are listening with is affected by these things, please skip the discussion of Fugazi's "Suggestion" towards the end of the show.

I get emotional discussing this topic, because I know people personally affected by it, and it is something that has to stop. There are amazing people like Erica in the world that make it their literal job to help individuals affected by sexual violence and abuse, but it is a job for ALL OF US. As Fugazi mentions in the song, 'we are all guilty', because we continue to live in a society that normalizes this behavior. Again, it HAS TO STOP.

If you, or a loved one, is, or has been affected by sexual violence, please know that there are good people and organizations in the world that can offer help.

RAINN is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization.

NSVRC (national sexual violence research center) has resources to help victims, and, importantly, tips on prevention and warning signs.

If you would like to hear more Erica, listen to her incredible show Para-Nerds, which is her and Jessie discussing all things spooky!

If you would like to e-mail the show, you may do so at Fileunderpod@gmail.com. You can follow us on Twitter and vote in our polls, @FileUnderPod.

You can hear more of me, (and future guest on the show), Mark, at The Evil Mark Show, which posts episodes each Tuesday and Thursday (I am on the Thursday show). You can find that show here. And our new YouTube channel is here.
