Husband and Wife are two non-believers who have always wanted to read the Bible. Why would we subject ourselves to this you might ask? From our perspective it helps us understand where the Christians around us, here in the Midwest, are coming from when they quote the Bible at us. Husband is basically an Atheist and wife leans Agnostic but mostly Atheist and we’re just having some fun at the Bible’s expense while learning more about what our neighbors claim we’re going to hell over.

Daniel Chapter 3: Bible Study by Atheists

Daniel Chapter 3: Bible Study by Atheists

So... immediately upon starting to finish the editing process with this episode. Our computer blew up. Luckily... I was able to recover this episode and use kid's computer to upload todays episode.
Not entirely sure how the rest of this week will go because currently we have limited access to some of our resources that we utilize and no working computer of our own for the podcast.
If there is a delay in upcoming episodes, we apologize now, but we'll do everything we can to try and stay on schedule here.
    Sincerely,
    Husband and Wife

Daniel Chapter 2: Bible Study by Atheists

Daniel Chapter 2: Bible Study by Atheists

    Daniel Chapter 2:
Hold onto your hats, folks, because things are getting dreamily dramatic in Babylon! In this episode of Sacrilegious Discourse, Husband and Wife dive into the mind-bending visions of King Nebuchadnezzar and the high-stakes game of "Guess My Dream" that could cost Babylon's wise men their lives.
Our hosts break down the chapter where Nebuchadnezzar demands his magicians, enchanters, and astrologers to not only interpret his troubling dream but to first tell him what the dream was! Talk about setting the bar high. With the threat of being chopped to pieces and their houses turned to rubble, the wise men are understandably freaking out.
Enter Daniel, our hero, who, with a little divine intervention, steps up to decode the king's cryptic dream. Spoiler alert: It involves a dazzling statue made of various metals and a rock that becomes a mountain. Confused? So were we. But don't worry, Husband and Wife are here to dissect the symbolism and the not-so-subtle message of God's ultimate dominion.
Join the hosts as they navigate through Nebuchadnezzar's extreme mood swings—from ordering mass executions to falling prostrate before Daniel. It's a wild ride of divine revelations, questionable historical accuracy, and, of course, a hefty dose of skepticism and sarcasm.
Will Daniel's God-given insight save the day? Or is this just another recycled biblical narrative? Tune in to find out!

Daniel Chapter 1: Bible Study by Atheists

Daniel Chapter 1: Bible Study by Atheists

    Daniel Chapter 1:
Get ready for some biblical fanfic, folks, because the Book of Daniel is kicking off with a Babylonian makeover! In this episode of Sacrilegious Discourse, Husband and Wife dive into the juicy backstory of Daniel and his hot Hebrew homies, handpicked by King Nebuchadnezzar for their brains and beauty.
Turns out, this whole chapter is like a prequel written centuries later, setting the stage for Daniel's prophetic adventures. But don't be fooled by the historical inaccuracies and questionable authorship - it's still a wild ride!
Join the hosts as they dissect the blatant cultural appropriation, the divine intervention in dietary choices (vegetables over royal feasts? God's got your back!), and the parallels to other biblical heroes (Joseph, anyone?).
It's a tale of ambition, assimilation, and a whole lot of God's favoritism. Tune in to find out how Daniel and his crew rise to the top of the Babylonian court, armed with nothing but their good looks, intelligence, and a divine veggie diet.

Bible Study by Atheists Weekly: Ezekiel Chapters 46 - 48 plus Q&A, Wrap up and Contradictions

Bible Study by Atheists Weekly: Ezekiel Chapters 46 - 48 plus Q&A, Wrap up and Contradictions

Ezekiel Weekly Wrap-Up: Land Grabs, Holy Districts, and a Prophet's Wildest Dreams
Buckle up, heathens, because this week on Sacrilegious Discourse, we've been knee-deep in the batshit crazy world of Ezekiel. We dove into the final chapters of this fever dream, where God morphed into a celestial real estate agent, divvying up land like candy, and Ezekiel unveiled his architectural masterpiece: a temple city so convoluted it would make even M.C. Escher scratch his head.
We questioned the necessity of 12 gates in a utopia (seriously, who needs that many entrances?), pondered the political motivations behind Ezekiel's land allocations (Zadokite privilege, anyone?), and even debated the authenticity of the book's authorship (spoiler alert: we think some shady ghostwriters were involved).
But wait, there's more! We tackled your burning questions in a Q&A session, wrapped up the entire book of Ezekiel with a snarky bow, and even dedicated a whole episode to the prophet's contradictions. We're talking God lying, changing his mind, and being an all-around vengeful deity. It's enough to make even the most devout believer question their faith.
So, if you're looking for a snarky, insightful, and thoroughly sacrilegious take on one of the Bible's most perplexing books, look no further. Join us next week as we bid farewell to Ezekiel and move on to our next biblical adventure. Who knows what kind of divine madness awaits us?

Ezekiel Contradictions: Bible Study by Atheists

Ezekiel Contradictions: Bible Study by Atheists

In this final episode on Ezekiel, Husband and Wife delve into the prophet's inconsistencies. From God's alleged lies and lack of mercy to the questionable morality of marrying your wife's sister (while she's still alive!), they question everything.
    Key contradictions explored:
Does God lie? While the Bible claims God is truthful, the hosts point out instances where his actions and words don't align. Is God merciful? Despite verses proclaiming God's mercy, his commands for genocide and destruction paint a different picture. Are we punished for the sins of others? Ezekiel presents a new concept of individual accountability, but other biblical passages contradict this.Does God repent? The Bible claims God doesn't repent, yet it describes instances where he changes his mind or regrets his actions. Can God be seen? While the Bible forbids seeing God and living, it also recounts instances where people saw him face-to-face.Join the hosts as they dissect these contradictions and more, with a healthy dose of sarcasm and skepticism. Is the Bible the flawed word of man, or is God just a massive hypocrite? Tune in to find out!

Ezekiel Wrap Up: Bible Study by Atheists

Ezekiel Wrap Up: Bible Study by Atheists

Get ready to roll your eyes, folks! We're dissecting the biblical acid trip that is Ezekiel. From creepy cherubim to poop-fueled cooking instructions, this book has it all. We recap Ezekiel's wild visions, his beef with the Levites, and his surprisingly new-agey ideas about individual responsibility (who knew?!).
But wait, there's more! We dish on the shady "Men of the Great Assembly" (aka God's ghostwriters) and question their authority to edit the supposed "word of God." Plus, a snarky pop quiz tests your Ezekiel knowledge.
Join us for a hilarious and irreverent look at one of the Bible's most bizarre books. And stay tuned for our next episode where we dive into the contradictions of Ezekiel – because, let's face it, this book is as inconsistent as God's temper.

Game girl 09 ,

Great podcast!!

Husband and Wife do a great job of making the bible not so boring. I have started reading the Bible several times, but always got too bored and annoyed to keep going. Wife’s reading and narration skills, including funny voices, keep me interested in what’s happening. Husband’s jokes are right on par with my sense of humor so I feel right at home. I also like the fact that they call out the garbage, hypocrisy, and unrealistic nonsense. (I mean a talking donkey, seriously, this book is clearly a fairytale) if Husband and Wife can make it though the whole Bible I will be right there with them until the end!

They make it fun

Wish they were around to help me slog through one of the worst small book groupings ever. So far. Deserves negative reviews.

Atheist bible study ripoff

Honestly,
Listen to atheist bible study. Much better. Not sure which one is ripping off the other one. But this one got annoying real quick. And the adds are insufferable.
