Trevor Aaronson Gives a Window Into FBI Entrapment Schemes

Trevor Aaronson Gives a Window Into FBI Entrapment Schemes

Scott interviews journalist and author Trevor Aaronson about an article he recently published for the Intercept. Aaronson has been one of the best reporters exposing how the FBI uses paid informants to manipulate people into agreeing to carry out violent attacks and other crimes so the agency can swoop in and pretend it’s taking dangerous terrorists off the street. His Intercept article examines one such case from about a decade ago. Scott and Aaronson dig into what happened. They then shift to a broader discussion of FBI entrapment schemes against both right and left-wing dissidents as well as financial criminals. Last, they reflect on the current political environment to question if there will ever be accountability for the FBI.

Hassan El-Tayyab on the War in Yemen and What We’re Doing About It

Hassan El-Tayyab on the War in Yemen and What We’re Doing About It

Hassan El-Tayyab was back on Antiwar Radio Sunday to discuss the effort to end the war on Yemen. Scott and El-Tayyab have been advocating for the passage of two War Powers Resolutions (H.J.Res. 87 and S.J.Res. 56) in the two houses of Congress. In this interview, they discuss where things stand and what needs to get done. El-Tayyab argues that this lame-duck period in the House is the best time to get these resolutions passed.

Tim Shorrock: The Tension with North Korea is America’s Fault

Tim Shorrock: The Tension with North Korea is America’s Fault

Scott talks with Tim Shorrock about the build-up to today’s tension with North Korea. Shorrock takes us back to the 1990s when the U.S. and North Korean governments were making serious headway in negotiating a formal end to the Korean war. At the time, the North Korean nuclear program was nonexistent. By the end of the decade, there were even serious talks taking place about ending the entire missile program. Then George W. Bush came in and, with the help of John Bolton, ruined everything. Scott and Shorrock talk about what went wrong, how it was almost fixed during the Trump administration and how things spiraled back out of control—again thanks largely to John Bolton.

David Stockman on the Economy and the Misplaced Fear of China

David Stockman on the Economy and the Misplaced Fear of China

Scott is joined by David Stockman to talk about the economic issues facing the world today. To start, Stockman explains where the American economy stands today. He argues that the crash of 2020 represents the next stage in a 50-year evolution of the boom-bust cycle. They also touch on the labor markets, which Stockman argues are not doing as well as the news would have you believe. Next they turn to China, where Stockman says an accelerating slide back towards central planning that’s all built on an absurd level of debt should dispel the idea we’re headed for a world run by Beijing. He also debunks the myth that China has been waging an effective economic war on the U.S. since the 1990s. Instead, Stockman says America’s economic troubles are all the Fed’s fault. Lastly, Scott and Stockman take a step back and look at how the dollar is faring on a global scale.
    Discussed on the show:
    David Stockman’s Contra Corner
David Stockman is the ultimate Washington insider turned iconoclast. He began his career in Washington as a young man and quickly rose through the ranks of the Republican Party to become the Director of the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan. He is the author of Trumped!, The Triumph of Politics, and his history of the financial crisis, The Great Deformation: The Corruption of Capitalism in America.

The Straight Scoop on Foreign Policy

Thank goodness I discovered Scott Horton years ago, or I would have no idea what is really going on in US foreign policy. Not only does he have a great podcast, but he has written fabulous books, all of which I have read and enjoyed.
Never miss an episode.

My favorite podcast

I look forward to each show because I get information that main stream outlets never investigates. This is a scary time and we need expert analysis by people who aren’t paid by lobbyists or networks to give biased opinions.
