When Domestic Abuse Ends in Murder

When Domestic Abuse Ends in Murder

When we hear the terms 'domestic abuse' or 'domestic violence', we often think of the perpetrator as being male, and the victim female...

But this isn't always the case. In fact, 35% of domestic abuse victims are men. And, disturbingly, it appears this number is on the rise...

This week, Bethan tells us about two truly harrowing cases of domestic abuse, both at the hands of women.

Broken Britain: The Senseless Murder of Sophie Lancaster

Broken Britain: The Senseless Murder of Sophie Lancaster

This week, we head back to 2007 as we examine the brutal assault on 21-year-old Robert Maltby, and the senseless murder of his girlfriend, 20-year-old Sophie Lancaster, as they walked through a park.

It's a case that shocked the nation, and it happened at a time when Britain seemed to be broken - pockets of the country had descended into lawless enclaves - and communities feared for their safety, with good reason too...

    The Killer Pharmacist

    The Killer Pharmacist

Bethan is still intoxicated following her birthday on Sunday, (seriously, I think we might need to stage an intervention!) so I'm riding solo this week!

Join me as we head north, to Middlesbrough, to take a look at the murder of Jessica Patel.

Jessica was a kind and loving person - she was desperate to start a family with her husband Mitesh, and at just 34, she had so much ahead of her. But on 14 May 2018, her life came to an abrupt end in the most barbaric way.

Just who would want Jessica dead? And why?

Join me as we take a deep dive into this truly disturbing case.

    Mark

BOOU4U ,

Thank you from Cincy, OH

I much prefer British podcasts and y’all are awesome! I love your humor and banter, just wish the episodes were longer! My only complaint is that I’m American 🤣🤣 love you guys, thanks for what you do and I agree that trigger warnings shouldn’t be an expectation but I’m not a snowflake so that might not be a popular opinion. Just know there are some of us that agree with you guys! Sending love from Midwest US ❤️❤️❤️

To much rambling

Stories are interesting but way to much chatter and back and forth banter taking about what they know. Constant reference and comparison to other crimes covered. Mark and Bethen talk just to talk making it difficult to concentrate on the story! They both are obviously self centered people.

All the ads!!!

Used to like listening to this but then there are commercials every 7 minutes and by the time you get engrossed in the story you get a commercial and it ruins everything. Too bad.
