    Come Unto Me

    Come Unto Me

"No matter how broken we feel, Jesus is here beside us, carrying the load, letting us rest awhile." -Pastor Debbie

"‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’" --Matthew 11:28-30

    Reset

    Reset

This week, after the state of New York calls for a quarantine, Pastor Debbie asks us to find a time to reset, and refocus our life.

    "By the rivers of Babylon—
there we sat down and there we wept
       when we remembered Zion.
    On the willows there
       we hung up our harps.
    For there our captors
       asked us for songs,
and our tormentors asked for mirth, saying,
‘Sing us one of the songs of Zion!’

How could we sing the Lord’s song
       in a foreign land?"

    --Psalm 137:1-4

    Thirsty

    Thirsty

"The truth is, we are always a little thirsty, in need of refreshment that comes at the feet of our Lord. And sometimes, we are thirsty enough to ask someone else to pull over."

"Jesus said to her, ‘Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but those who drink of the water that I will give them will never be thirsty. The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.’" --John 4: 13-14

    Blessed to be a Blessing

    Blessed to be a Blessing

In this sermon, Pastor Debbie asks us to remember that we are called to join God in the act of creation--after all, we have been blessed so that we may be a blessing to the world.

"Now the Lord said to Abram, ‘Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’" --Genesis 12:1-3

    Resisting Temptation

    Resisting Temptation

In this sermon, Pastor Debbie asks us to remember that during this season of Lent, we are called to set aside any idols or temptations we face and to re-center our lives on Christ.

"Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. ... Jesus said to him, ‘Away with you, Satan! for it is written,
    “Worship the Lord your God,
and serve only him.”’" --Matthew 4:1, 10

    Crystal Jesus: A Transfiguration Story

    Crystal Jesus: A Transfiguration Story

In this sermon, Pastoral Associate Justin Hylden asks us to remember that God is continually revealing Godself to us anew, because God wants us to love us wholly, no pale imitation will do.

"Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white." --Matthew 17:1-2
