Iron in a Lot of Fires

    The siblings convene for a mid-season check-in and catch-up!
They review the recent episode featuring their faithful Mormon sister and what they took away from it. Dan shares points of interest from his current reading of ‘American Crucifixion: The Murder of Joseph Smith’ and Lisa shares hers of ‘A Short History of Nearly Everything’ as well as the existential terror of ’The Handmaid’s Tale’.
They also read and react to a recent 'faith-promoting' article from the LDS magazine Liahona titled ‘Staying Strong When Loved Ones Leave the Church’. Appropriate, right? You can read a long here: http://tiny.cc/sizliahona

    The Good Sister

    The Good Sister

For the first time, Dan & Lisa are joined by the other sibling of the family - Lacey!
Lacey is still an active, believing member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, while Dan & Lisa are very much Ex-Mormons.
They discuss their experiences growing up in the faith, how their relationships have changed and improved as they have evolved and become more honest with each other, how Lacey has felt about her siblings leaving the religion, and why she chooses to stay.
They also discuss various topics of interest and controversy regarding the church - tithing, testimonies, temple work, death, the afterlife, Utah culture, sexual and religious taboos, church finances, family dynamics, being a single adult in a family oriented social structure, and more!

Fascinating and fun discussions

These conversations between ‘Brother Dan’ and ‘Sister Lisa’ center around their experiences as former members of the LDS religion and culture, but actually and importantly extend far beyond Mormonism into the general realm of humanistic and philosophical thought. As a never-churched humanist, but one who is glancingly familiar with Mormonism through a friend, I have taken an almost anthropological interest in the whole paradigm. Anyway, listening to the discussions is so interesting, and they both are such a kick: their back-and-forth funny, incisive and smart! Keep up the great work!

more than mormonism

Great conversations between siblings about big picture stuff after leaving the prescription of the LDS version of Christianity. Really interesting. Looking forward to where it goes!
