The CW's newest DC Universe hit series is "DC's Stargirl", and Neil Jackson plays Jordan Mahkent, also known as Icicle. Neil talks about the Justice Society, the Injustice Society, the fun of playing a character who's pretty sure he's not the bad guy, and more.

Neil also talks a bit about his role in the upcoming "Kingsman" prequel "The King's Man", coming to theaters (hopefully?) this fall.

JAWS: Everything, Then Some, and More

JAWS: Everything, Then Some, and More

JAWS production designer Joe Alves and JAWS historian Dennis L. Prince stop by to talk about the history of JAWS, the making of the iconic film, and about creating the book "Designing JAWS", which is a treasure every fan of the movie and of creature design should have.

Joe also talks a little about working with Steven Spielberg on "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" (he also worked on "Escape From New York", among dozens of others), and Dennis talks about going through Joe's archives from working on the film to compile the notes into "Designing JAWS".

The 45th Anniversary home video release of JAWS is a 4K UHD set, available June 2, and appears to contain most of the extras that had been available on earlier different high-definition versions of the movie.

    Sidewalk Furniture: Nerd Punk Rock

    Sidewalk Furniture: Nerd Punk Rock

Sidewalk Furniture is an angry nerd-rock band based in Durham NC, and "Reimagined Thrill" is their first full album, released on April 15. The members are Riley (lead vocals), Shante (guitar), Shelby (bass) and Lily Fey (drums), and in addition to being rockers, they are well-versed in various fandoms, something that's reflected in the songs on the album.

The album has a variety of tones through the track list, while touching on Star Trek and Star Wars and also hitting on a few feminist and queer themes. And did I mention the beautiful angry rock vibes? Promotions and live gigs are on hold while things are still in various levels of social distancing and shutdowns, but they are planning on getting more songs written so hopefully we'll see a lot more from them in 2021.

There was also a journey from the band starting out as a folk trio to becoming a punk rock quartet, and that's a story that needs to be the basis for a quest adventure.

You can listen to the track "Stormtrooper" here, and also enter to be eligible for a download code to get a copy of the album for yourself!

    TV Talk: Whatcha Watching?

    TV Talk: Whatcha Watching?

Fellow scifi fan NERDSoul stops by to chat with Summer about watching and bingeing television in these lockdown days, and we veer into tangents involving procedurals and a few other shows that skirt the edge of science fiction.

The shows and movies we're seeing for the first time, or the ones we get comfort from watching over again, we ramble a bit into personal likes and dislikes about comedies, and riffing on "CSI: Miami", but it's all good entertainment, right?

Mentioned in this episode: Supernatural, Motherland: Fort Salem, Siren, The CW, Black Lightning, Supergirl, Arrow, Constantine, Lucifer, DC Animated Features, Vagrant Queen, Wynonna Earp, The Expanse, Bosch, Almost Paradise, Leverage, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, and Escape Pod. There might have been a few other side tangents taken on some other shows, too.

What TV shows are helping calm your mind while in lockdown mode? Let us know! Call 602-635-6976 and leave a message, send Summer an email, or in the comments below!

Spoon Slayer ,

Good for Sci-Fi Addicts

Focused mainly on media sci-fi (movies and Tv as opposed to books) this is an enjoyable frequent show that includes commentary an interviews. I pick whether I will listen based on the subject simply because I no longer have the time to listen to every episode. I enjoy the team that's been put together and I like the call-in show as well. Full of characters.

Established & Respected

Slice Of Sci-Fi has enjoyed incredible longevity due to the dedication and passion of Summer Brooks and her team. From in-depth interviews with fascinating creators to informative behind-the-scenes coverage, Slice Of Sci-Fi should be on the playlist of any fan of speculative genres.

Snark, humor, horror & sci-fi 🎬🎨👍🎉

Summer continues to be entertaining & informative as well as arrange fascinating people to interview. Many geeky topics are discussed but if for example, you’ve ever wondered how an indie & or horror convention was set up or how films get made on a budget this is a podcast for you. Conventions (& sci fi charities) of all kinds are reviewed, discussed & geeked over. Spock 🖖🏻, Freddie & Ivanova I’m sure would approve!
