Some of My Friends Read Comics

Really fun show, with great cohosts with a nice synergy. They introduced me to some great comic books I hadn’t heard of like Prez, Top Ten and even a mothercluckin’ KFC comic. They’re not DC fans but they read DC books and give them a fair shake. It’s basically like listening to an audiobook of a comic with cool anecdotes sprinkled in, definitely give it a shot.

I get a little worried anytime I see a podcast about a panel of people just having a discussion, because the conversation can easily get out of hand. These guys have fun and keep it conversational without digressing into yelling over each other or digressing completely off topic to explore inside jokes for fifteen minutes (I’m looking at your Nerdist). Kia, Chris & Vince each bring a unique perspectives to the discussion resulting in some pretty good discourse.

Chris, Vince, and Kia come from disparate comic book backgrounds, and their varying opinions make for funny and lively discussion. The Superman: Red Sun episode is my favorite so far. Their opinions of the comic vary widely, but they all explicitly or implicitly call out the silly elements. Each host has a great eye for comic tropes and the discussions have evolved into well-rounded critiques which include plot, art, and dialogue. Definitely subscribe if you’re a comics fan.

Vince, Kia, and Chris talk about comics with episodes focused on an individual topic, book-club style. All three are hilarious and occasionally insightful. Definitely check it out!
