Lovely discovery!
I recently heard an interview with Dean Parks, a guitar player who played on the song “Deacon Blues” (and many other songs), on a YouTube channel called Vertex Effects, and it made me curious as to where else I could hear about this song. A search for “Deacon Blues” had me stumbled onto this lovely podcast, which, in this episode is a conversation between a father and son analyzing and interpreting the tune. I thought I was looking for was more of an inside look into the making of the song (which I got a little of, by the way), But discovered that this illuminating conversation added another layer of depth to my listening experience. My father and I used to listen to music and talk about it all the time. I love this conversation because it was funny and insightful. Their interpretation of the song was a unique and interesting one. I hope to listen to many more episodes though I see that there hasn’t been a new episode in a while. I hope it’s makers know that they are being listened to and appreciated. Would recommend to anyone cooking breakfast alone wishing to listen in on a heartfelt conversation.
