“Failure…A Catalyst For Personal Growth ”
Join me and my guest Tim Lupinacci, CEO and Chair at BakerDonelson (BakerDonelson.com), one of the oldest (130 years) law firms in the country. Tim leads over 1,300 individuals in 23 offices across the Southeastern US. A life-long leadership student, Tim recently launched a nonprofit called Everybody Leads (everybodyleads.org), focused on empowering individuals in underserved communities with basic leadership skills and confidence to better lead themselves, lead others, and lead in the community. As a self-professed “leadership junkie”, Tim’s journey as a leader began 30-years ago as a young lawyer after disappointing a boss with an epic failure. The boss challenged Tim (after significant yelling and tough love!) by saying he saw Tim as a strong young leader who needed to recognize that he was a leader, and step up to own his work, his career, and his ambitions. BTW, the “Baker” in the firm’s name refers to Senator Howard Baker who was also President Reagan’s Chief of Staff.

Paula defines cultural agility as an individual's ability to comfortably and effectively work in different contexts and with people from different cultures. Cultural agility is a meta competency that can be developed through various sub-competencies such as tolerance for ambiguity, resilience, curiosity, humility, and relationship building. Soft skills, often referred to as 'squishy,' are actually hard skills that require effort and development. Cultural agility is crucial for effective leadership and influencing others.
