Sound of Our Town is a travel podcast about the music in the next town you visit: Where to go to hear and experience the best music and why; what sounds shaped that city or town’s culture and what new sounds continue to define it. Produced in the single-voice narrative style, mixed with select interviews, the show will emphasize original music to drive the stories. This isn't a music show. It’s a show about travel. About wanders. Free spirits. Whether you are quickly dropping in and jumping out or in for a long stay, Sound of our Town will introduce to you the real sonic stories and places that echo in that city so your travel is enriched with music.

Portsmouth, NH - Maybe Size Does Matter
Why is it that the small towns always get what it takes to maintain a vibrant music scene? In episode 10 of season 2, host Will Dailey takes you to one of his favorite little cities on the east coast. Portsmouth, New Hampshire has it all: old buildings, amazing food and more venues than its 22,000 citizens can attend. So basically, this town is calling to you.

Seattle, Washington: “Here we are now, entertain us."
A city with a legacy and cloudy culture that has given us authentic artists for decades. Some known around the world who arrived on the shoulders of those like Mudhoney and the Sub Pop beginnings. It’s still hard to escape the bubble of grunge but maybe the next Seattle is just Seattle?

Washington, DC: “Don’t mute the people”
Of course two of the most relentlessly chest and heart pounding genres originate from the capital. Something has to cut through the muck and the mire. In this episode we visit the spots that bring the truth to the capital through music. It is our arts that keep us honest and moving forward to a more perfect union.

Albuquerque, NM - The Song of the High Desert
If Neil Young cherished it for the escape then there is certainly mystery and beauty within the 505. In this episode we got you face melters and listening rooms. No problem. But we also have the green chili!

Keep Going!!!!
One of my favorite podcasts ever. Great concept. You get a real feel for a city, and the music IQ is off the charts. Love the add-ins about local food, personalities, vibes, etc. The narration is lyrical and so well considered. Even for my hometown of Chicago…I learned new things and to look at it in new ways. Keep it going!!! So many cities and towns left to uncover. And I am betting we barely scratched the surface on those already done!!!
Favorite new podcast!
There is so much noise on the interweb but Sound of Our Town slices out a space that is uniquely its own and checks all the boxes for me: history and music and travel wrapped up in a voice that feels like your friend settling in to share the good word on where to go and who to listen to in an easy (but beautifully written) way of story telling. Sound of Our Town is exactly what I need after the last few years of staying put, of not venturing farther than a defined radius on the map, of desperately missing the energy of live music and travel and company. Thankful for all that Will shares here and look forward to every episode!
Inauthentic and Lazy
This is a podcast for anyone who is too lazy to Google a city or yelp bars. It’s so out of touch I would be surprised if the freelancers that write the scripts actually travel to these towns. The lack of interest and bold claims made about “locals’” opinions is offensive. Might be a good podcast for you if you don’t care about culture or generally are so dull and superficial you travel for instagram clout. It somehow has the audacity to be ignorant of the cities it covers whilst coming off as condescending about how much of an insider take they can contrive from social media. This goes beyond just being tourist trap centric. The content is antithetical to the premise of the production. Surface level vibe vibe vibe prose that doesn’t mean anything. Misspellings and words pronounced lacking whole syllables are the cherry on top. Stay home sound of our town…
