The ghosts of your horror movie club explore a different sub-genre each month! Featuring creators from the spooky community, stoner filmmaker DeVaughn Taylor & film journalist Garrett McDowell discuss the recurring motifs of various sub-genres and what makes the best genre films work. New episodes every Tuesday!
NOTE: We recommend starting at Season 2 (Ep60) as that's when Garrett joined and began our current format. Season 1 was the experimental phase haha
NOTE: The first 99 episodes, we were under "Bloody Blunts" however the show didn't change, so Season 3 is where we continued as "Specter Cinema"

KNIFE+HEART (2018) ft. Rocco T. Thompson
We got more stop in France for our International Pride tour as we discuss the porno-set giallo A Knife in the Heart. The boys are joined by Rocco T. Thompson (The Lady Killers Podcast) to discuss the pain of love, artistic expression through porn, and that chosen family takes many forms. If a dildo switchblade doesn't make this the gayest episode of the show, idk what will!

TITANE (2021) ft. Yutaka Tamanaha // International Queer Horror
This week is a biggie: after many name checks, it's finally time to cover Julia Ducournau's Titane for week 3 of international queer horror! We're talking about the many layers of body horror, gender identity exploration, and how this movie is a low key musical? Use protection, even when banging a car!
Note: the film doesn't specify Alex's gender within the film, so we end up addressing them by multiple pronouns throughout. We did our best depending on the film's context at different points

CALVAIRE (2005) ft. Ernesto Olivo // International Queer Horror
After a some queer romance from South Korea, the pod is flying to the Belgian marshes to discuss Calvaire with Ernesto Olivo! We're discussing extreme loneliness, sexual repression, and some truly rancid vibes in this cursed film. TRIGGER WARNING: sexual assault against a queer person.
We also had some technical difficulties, Ernesto's audio is a bit fuzzy for the last 30 minutes. Apologies!

THE HANDMAIDEN (2016) ft. Tori Potenza // International Queer Horror
Happy Pride Month! This year our queer focus is international queer horror and we're starting off with a banger. Tori Potenza (Movie Jawn, Certified Forgotten) joins the boys to discuss Park Chan-wook's erotic thriller The Handmaiden. We're talking necessary sex scenes, Tarantino-esque storytelling, and the rich filmmaking on display. Put your favorite pair of gloves on for this one!

Pull Up!!
DeVaughn and Garrett are such a fun duo to listen to, and their coverage of different horror films are so great!!
Great podcast
Fun, informative work.
Bloody Blunts Cinema Club F***ing Rocks!
Long-time listener first time reviewer, I’ve been listening to Devaughn since his early days and I truly adore how much love this man has for such a underappreciated classification of moviemaking. The BBCC is a great way to engage in the community of horror lovers and they make you feel welcomed as they present an engaging listen through casual conversation; wether they are holding a film up on a pedestal or ripping it apart, the BBCC is my favorite weekly escape.
