How Banks got into diesel
Gale Banks wraps up his multi-part interview with Walt Ware, former President of Garrett AiResearch by revealing their biggest achievements. Did you know Walt was responsible for turbos in all Ford 7.3L Power Strokes? He was also responsible for creating the world's first robotic turbocharger assembly plant. The two also discuss how and why Banks transitioned from gas diesel to diesel performance in the early 80s. Banks Sidewinder Turbo Systems were available as a dealer-specified option at GMC dealers throughout the mid-80s. You could buy a GMC pickup or Suburban with a turbocharged 6.2L diesel engine a full year before RAM offered the Cummins turbo diesel! This is just one of the many stories the pair cover in this week’s fascinating episode.

Gale is Awesome!
Gale is a longtime personal hero of mine. I’m a car guy not necessarily a diesel guy but have always loved Gale after learning about his hot rodding days of the past. I look forward to every episode and listen intently to every word
Gale Banks is taking us all to school!!
This has been one of the most enjoyable podcasts I’ve ever listened to and it’s good education as well. The guests and the topics have really keep me coming back. Between this and all the great videos on YouTube I’m becoming a better diesel owner and it’s helping me be aware and know why I’m putting something on my truck instead just slapping parts on.
Keep up the great work Gale and I hope you live to 1000 because the world needs more people like you telling it like it is!
