Abre los Ojos (Encanto and Expectations)
For this episode, we used Encanto to talk about expectations. Conversation topics include re-managing our societal expectations in a pandemic-affected world, the expectations we set for ourselves and others, and, of course, the incredible music. We love this movie a whole lot, and we'll certainly have some Patreon episodes about it in the near future!

Mysterious as the Dark Side of the Moon (Mulan and Identity)
For our 10th episode we use Mulan to talk about identity, and we are joined by Austin's best friend of 20ish years, Izzie! Izzie is a trans woman who sees much of her own journey in Mulan's story. Conversation topics include identity in trans experiences, superficial and meaningful forms of identity, and the best Mushu quotes. We have greatly enjoyed using Disney movies to help guide us through big, important, and even difficult themes and ideas. We look forward to the next 10!

A Man for All to See (Tarzan and Masculinity)
This week, we use the 1999 film Tarzan to talk about masculinity. Discussion topics include how masculinity is expressed by the male characters, the Vulture article on Joss Whedon's toxic behavior (https://www.vulture.com/article/joss-whedon-allegations.html), and Austin's desires in male friendships.

Weary of the Sound of Screams (The Nightmare Before Christmas and Burnout)
In this episode, we are joined by our good friend Kristen, the designer of our logo and our first ever special guest! The three of us use The Nightmare Before Christmas to talk about burnout. Conversation topics include Jack's relationship with the citizens of Halloweentown and how it leads to burnout, the American education system, and workplace burnout. This was the most fun we've had recording yet!

Sanctuary (The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Spirituality)
This week, we use Austin's favorite Disney movie The Hunchback of Notre Dame to talk about spirituality. Specifically, we discuss how Quasimodo, Esmeralda, and Frollo's relationships with Notre Dame inform us on their views of God.

A new favorite
I grew up with Disney and still love their thoughtful plot lines and beautiful visuals, so the fact that Victoria and Austin have decided to use them as a jumping-off point for deeper, really meaningful conversations is so wonderful! The way they talk about and consider the implications of whatever the theme is helps me heal parts of myself I didn’t even know needed healing and laugh out loud along the way. Their thoughtfulness and care truly lends itself to a delightful listening experience! I couldn’t recommend a podcast more!
