Corchele's "Messy" Life After Breklyn's Death: Pregnancy After Loss & Postpartum Depression

Corchele's "Messy" Life After Breklyn's Death: Pregnancy After Loss & Postpartum Depression

Mom Corchele talks about the death of her daughter after 10 hours after her birth due to an infection, and how because of her daughter Breklyn, she and her husband were able to help change hospital policy in their area to help detect this type of infection before it's too late, thus saving more babies' lives.
Corchele also recounts how she didn't properly grieve after Breklyn died, how they got pregnant, and then she admitted to herself that she had postpartum depression and sought help. She is in a much better place and started a non-profit organization called Because of Breklyn, to provide unstuffed bears to families that will go through something similar.

Mom Corchele Tells Birth Story and Death of Baby Breklyn Due to Chorioamnionitis at 39 Weeks

Mom Corchele Tells Birth Story and Death of Baby Breklyn Due to Chorioamnionitis at 39 Weeks

Mom Corchele describes getting pregnant with her fiance Mark and having an uneventful pregnancy with her daughter Breklyn. However, at 39 weeks, Corchele remembers feeling terrible and having a fever. When they go into the hospital, she tells how Breklyn was in distress, so they did an emergency C-section. They gave her ketamine, because the epidural/nerve block wasn't taking effect quickly enough.
Breklyn was born, but had to be revived and kept on life support, since Corchele was sedated. Once Corchele awoke, she and Mark made the heartbreaking decision to take Breklyn off of life support. She passed away 10 hours later. The doctors concluded later that she like died due to an infection call chorioamnionitis that was missed during Corchele's intake at the hospital.

In honor of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, we partnered with Stacey Cardon of Soul Garden Coaching to develop this meditation, to cultivate compassion and understanding and tenderness toward your body after the death of your baby.
After the stillbirth of my son, I felt like my body failed me and him, and it has taken me a lot of prayer, mediation, and pondering to be *okay* with my body. I hope that this short body scan meditation helps bring a measure of peace to your heart.

Baby Tommy | Dad Tom's Full-Term Stillbirth Story at 37 Weeks

Dad Tom recounts how his wife Kirby noticed decreased fetal movement around 37 weeks of her first pregnancy. They went to check and they were able to find the heartbeat, so they were reassured all was fine. The next day, she noted less movement again and when they went in the second time, they were shocked when there was no heartbeat.
Kirby was induced and their son Tommy was born still at 37 weeks. This is Tommy's birth story.
