Hi, I'm Kelly McElroy and I love learning about everything related to sustainability and the environment. In this podcast we will do just that. We will showcase a cool story, project, idea, etc. related to sustainability and the environment as well as discuss at least one thing the average person could consider implementing in their own life related to sustainability.
Spring Cleaning Tips
On today's episode, I will be discussing various tips for spring cleaning. Many times, it's super easy to simply throw items out just to get them out of your house. This year, I'm going to take the extra step to research places to donate, recycle, or upcycle various items. In particular, I will discuss what to do with old clothing, old electronics, random items around the house, as well as eco-friendly cleaners for your house.
Sustainable Stories - March 2021
Today is the monthly wrap up of sustainable stories from the month of March. Jason and I will be covering the following stories: an app that shows you your carbon footprint from your receipt, airlifting rhinos for conservation, an oil lobby supporting a price on carbon, offshore wind, and our thoughts on the Netflix documentary Seaspiracy.
Sustainability in Healthcare - Bronson Healthcare
Today I’ll be talking to Brendan Molony who is the Sustainability Coordinator at Bronson Healthcare in Kalamazoo, MI. They are focused on many things including energy conservation, waste reduction, and sustainable food sourcing. Bronson was even ranked as one of the top 50 greenest hospitals in America by Becker’s Hospital Review.
Today I will be talking to Eric Rosen from Loop. Loop is a company that is teaming up with various well known brands to get rid of packaging waste and create a circular economy. Various products come in reusable packaging that you can easily return once you are done with them with little to no hassle.
Episode 100 - A Conversation with Kelly
Episode 100! It's hard to believe we have put out an episode every week for 100 weeks! On today's episode, the table will be turned and Jason will be the one interviewing Kelly on her sustainability and podcast journey over the past 100 episodes. She will talk about the inspiration behind starting the podcast, lessons she has learned, and how she personally defines "sustainability".
TerraCycle - Recycling "Hard-to-Recycle" Items
Today I’ll be talking with Alex Payne from TerraCycle. TerraCycle is an amazing company that actually recycles those “hard-to-recycle” items that aren’t always accepted by our curbside recycling programs. They also work with other companies to recycle items and turn them into new products. They are literally diverting millions of pounds of valuable resources from the landfills.

Love the show! So relevant!
Love the show, Kelly! I have enjoyed your tips on making individual strides in sustainability and you keep the topic light and approachable when it is anything but. Your local spotlights are a joy - I’m a huge fan or Granor Farm and the Livery. Loved those episodes. Keep up the great work!!
