The Incomparable Mothership 714: You Can't Protect People From "Doctor Who"

Put on your mouse ears and step into the TARDIS! We’re discussing the return (rebirth? regeneration?) of “Doctor Who” in 2024, this time on Disney+ (and the BBC). It’s a new era with an old showrunner. How did the 2023 specials hit us, where should curious viewers start watching, and what are our hopes for the coming season? - Jason Snell with Erika Ensign, Steven Schapansky, Annette Wierstra and Kelly Guimont.

Sorkin' In It 3.8: Nevada Day, Part 2 (Studio 60 Episode 8)

Nevada Day Part 1 defied our expectations… which meant we got our hopes up for Nevada Day Part 2. Will the light mix of casual homophobia, causal racism, and heavy belief beggaring win us over this time around? Or will we find more joy in discussing the correct pronunciation of Nevada? At least Lex has Brian, and Brian has Lex. And you’ve got both of us. Join us: We’re Sorkin’ In It together. - Lex Friedman and Brian Warren.

Vulcan Hello 87: "Whistlespeak" (Discovery S5E6)

What’s more Star Trek than violating the Prime Directive? This week’s “Discovery” episode feels familiar in a very good way. Jason defends Captain Burnham in imaginary Prime Directive court, but Judge Scott is not hearing it. Also, we spend a surprising amount of time wondering about how replicated food works. We blame Culber’s abuela. - Scott McNulty and Jason Snell.

Great Content. A lot of fun.

I'm not going to tell you that I love every podcast offered by The Incomparable, but there are so darned many of them I enjoy a bunch on a regular basis. Biff! is superhero fun, Total Party Kill is a D&D blast, and Random Trek gives me comfort in these Trek-less times. The mothership show is usually interesting and another favorite is Rocket Surgery, which has hilariously introduced me to "Cool Cat Saves the Kids" and other bargain basement gems (John Carradine Lives! (he doesn’t)). Check out the full feed. You'll find something to enjoy.

So many great shows, such good sound production

This feed is full of so many good shows! There is sure to be something for everyone who likes to listen to geeky smart people talking and laughing about life, tech, movies, TV shows, books, Dr Who, etc. It’s not rude or crass or gross. Fast-paced and brilliant.

PS Actually a few of the speakers are recorded a rather low and I have to sit there changing the volume up for them and down for everyone else. So people are just soft-spoken and thoughtful and I want to hear them too!

Excellent!

After dropping all my political podcasts for the sake of sanity I went looking for something new. I'm not a nerd nor particularly obsessed with movies though I do lean towards sci-fi. This podcast ALMOST makes me wish I were! Very entertaining with in-depth (or at least arguable) analysis of whatever they are discussing. Since finding them I've enjoyed digging through the back catalog to hear their takes on such classics as Back To The Future, The Terminator, and Alien. Looking forward to hearing their recommendations on books and television shows. I really enjoyed the "dueling" podcasts on the newest Star Wars movie with our friends across the pond. Two opposable thumbs up!
