At the Root of Being Wrong

At the Root of Being Wrong

Sometimes it’s you. Sometimes that toxic trait is yours. Sometimes you’re wrong & sometimes that wrong has uncomfortable consequences. But taking accountability for that wrong & healing from the impacts of those consequences are your responsibility (& a pathway to inner freedom).

I said at the beginning of this podcast that you might not like me too much after this one. If it turns out to be true, I hope that at least it pushes you to expand your relationship with ownership over your actions so that you can build better relationships with people. And if that happens, I’ll take it as a win.

The questions we explore in this podcast are:
    1. How do our emotions & actions manifest when we've caused harm to someone & must navigate their journey of healing afterward?
    2. What can we do, what are some corrective action steps we can take when we’ve wronged someone?
    3. How do we come to terms with having made the wrong decisions for ourselves & how can this help us from staying stuck in the past?

    At the Root of Kindness

    At the Root of Kindness

I begin this podcast narrating a writing entry over background sounds from the balcony of my stay in Porto, Portugal. There are many wonderful things to recount from my time there, but one thing stood out most: kindness.

    This podcast explores two questions:
    1) How do we uphold kindness without being taken advantage of?
    2) What impact does kindness have on the self and our relationships/communities?

At the end of the podcast, folks from Porto join me in sharing an act of kindness imparted on them.

At the Root of the Weight of Right Now

At the Root of the Weight of Right Now

This episode is an unstructured open-thought about the weight of the many injustices we are seeing. I found myself in a heavy mood & wanted to pause to reflect openly. If you're managing & working with the times of now as well, I hope my reflections & questions to myself can help you.

    At the Root of Fatherhood

    At the Root of Fatherhood

When it comes to fatherhood, what are the shifts that we cannot physically see? What are the feelings, mindsets, & emotions that contribute to the fatherhood experience? What haven’t we asked fathers, & what do fathers wish to say that hasn’t been said?

This episode features three fathers from Atlanta, by way of New York City, Maryland by way of Oakland, California, & Essex, England. Each father initiates the conversation by answering a question posed by another father and though they’ve never met in person or virtually, their conversation is heart-warming, eye-opening, mind-moving, & wonderfully connected.

Listen as these three men talk openly about fatherhood in ways we might not be accustomed to, but need to hear.

At the Root of "Losing" Yourself

At the Root of "Losing" Yourself

I wrote a poem when I was in my 10th-grade English class. I wrote, essentially, that our life path is like a circle; and in between our birth and our dying, we’d at some point dedicate a lot of effort to rediscovering whoever it is that we are at the core.

This week’s podcast is a flashback to me preparing for the season of “losing myself” and getting transparent about what I learned and how I uncomfortably navigate this era almost two decades later.

In this episode, we explore the following questions:

What are the dangers of succumbing to and staying in the idea of being lost?

What’s the connection between losing yourself and perfectionism?

Can any good come from “losing” yourself?
