The Lies of Our Age (ft. Rosaria Butterfield)

The Lies of Our Age (ft. Rosaria Butterfield)

Rosaria Butterfield, who needs no introduction, joins Timon and Josh to talk about everything from LGBTQ to critical theory to egalitarianism to low birth rates.

Listen in for a fresh perspective on evangelicalism's ill-fated accommodation of critical theory, the erosion of doctrinal integrity within the Church, and specific debates within the Southern Baptist Convention regarding egalitarianism. Rosaria, a former lesbian professor who converted to Christianity, urges repentance and a return to traditional theological foundations. She highlights the dangers of adopting cultural terminology without critically examining its implications and advocates for a firm stance on doctrinal principles within the church.

Rosaria Champagne Butterfield is a former tenured professor of English and women’s studies at Syracuse University. She became a Christian in 1999, describing her conversion as a “train wreck” because of how it radically transformed her life, identity and relationships. Her memoir, The Secret Thoughts of an Unlikely Convert, describes that difficult journey. Rosaria has taught and ministered at Geneva College and is now a homeschooling mother, a pastor’s wife, a part-time author and an occasional public speaker.

Unmatched Project

No organization is doing a better job of pumping Protestant thought into American society.

Highly Recommend

Huge fan of American Reformer. This podcast (+ the Journal) has been a significant influence on me as I’ve developed my thinking on Christian political theology/social ethics. Keep up the excellent work.

Out of touch and reactionary - chronically online

Chronically online guys who are very afraid of losing influence. They really need to go outside and meet everyday people outside of their bubble rather than take their understanding of the world from Twitter and the bubble consensus - I think it’d be good for them. Their politics seem to be completely reactionary and also ignore that women in the real world are complex beings like men are, and are not so easily reducible to household appliances as they think. Please go outside the beltway and join a bowling league - people aren’t as bad as you say.
