Great!

I’ve seen listening to each episode after making my way through all the Best Pictures the last couple of years and always enjoy Maggie’s and Ian’s opinions and thoughts.

Who is the audience?

I like these two. I agree with a lot of their opinions- I just am struggling to figure out who their audience is intended to be. Specifically, their Lawrence of Arabia episode has me a little confused. They’re presenting all these opinions of an incredibly frustrating, nuanced, and challenging character and all of their opinions are things I agree with. I think I can’t get past is their tone. They present this as if it’s a bunch of hot takes and as if’s all accidental… The film is clearly in on this. The film is doing this intentionally. Like I can’t decide if these two totally get it or don’t get it at all. I’ve come to the side maybe it’s an age thing. Maybe this podcast is for young people who haven’t seen these movies? This would be a PERFECT podcast if you were going to a party and wanted to act like you had seen the film. You could just sort of regurgitate these ideas and probably impress someone. Maybe 🤷🏻‍♀️

Good stuff

Incisive podcast. They’re not afraid to take down sacred cows-An American in Paris, West Side Story, Lawrence of Arabia.
