Ep 27: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (and a first for the group)

Ep 27: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue (and a first for the group)

The time has finally arrived...Kearsten doesn't like a book Tatyana loves! This has happened many times in reverse and that is why the banter part of the podcast works so well, but it is a rare rare feat that Kearsten does not enjoy a book that Tatyana loves. So, grab the popcorn and buckle up for this roller coaster, while we dive into the world of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. This book took the world by storm and since has had several special editions, hundreds of merch made from it, and even the occasional tattoo, and we had such a blast dissecting this book.

This episode contains spoilers from: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by VE Schwab, Crazy Stupid Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams, and Supernatural TV show.

Also, if you would like to listen to Tatyana scream about her love for Addie, head over to The Bookshelf Binge to listen! Here is our interview with Ali Hazelwood from last year and tune in next week for our latest one!

Great hosts and love the back and forth banter!

Listen I really love the two hosts and I think that they are very passionate about the books that they’re reading and they aren’t gonna hold any punches, they’re going to tell you how they feel and what they think, they don’t just gush over all the popular books just because they’re popular.
But with that being said, just know that they will probably trash your favorite book lol I wish that they did kind of a “bash the book sandwich” if you will. They start off where they say the book is good and then by the end of it you’re pretty sure that they despise the book with every fiber of their being.
I have only listened to the episodes of books that I have actually already read because I feel that if I listen to an episode about a book I have not read yet, I probably will never pick up that book and give it a chance.
Will I continue to listen? Absolutely! I love their back and forth, they both have amazing laughs and I can tell they truly love to read and talk about books!

Like chatting books with your besties!!

Let me start by saying Tatyana and Kearsten are amazing humans. More then that they put their heart and soul and time and energy into this podcast. They also don’t pull any punches and give it to you straight which can be uncomfortable if they are covering a book you love (ahem you know what book I’m talking about). If you want just a plot recap/summary this isn’t for you but if you want to feel like you’re talking about books to your best friends then I highly recommend this podcast!!

Immature and Boring

I hate writing negative reviews, but this podcast was nothing what I thought it would be. I was excited to hear recommendations about books and discussions and whatnot. Instead, I made it through 45 minutes of an approximately 1.5 - 2 hour show and the word “like” was used every other word. Minimal discussion about books and the interview seemed more geared about TikTok and other social media things. I heard maybe two short references to books during this whole time. Overall, the girls sounded too young and immature for me, and lacking substance. I felt like I was listening to tweens at a sleepover. I had to unfollow. I’m disappointed, because I was really looking for a good podcast for book lovers and was excited, thinking I had found one. I guess I’ll keep looking.
