The Cats' Whiskers Wes Cusworth

Recruited from Geelong Football League powerhouse North Shore, Leo King played four games with the Cats before venturing off to VFA clubs Werribee and Geelong West, en route to a highly-acclaimed career with south-west Victorian team Portland.

130 games for the Cats and 138 in total in the VFL/AFL, provided Darren Flanigan the opportunity to prove his skill at the elite level. The team relished catching up with the big man from Katamatite as he spoke of his fond memories of time at Kardinia Park, while also taking us through the mechanics of the modern pathway to footy stardom.

The team was delighted to have the opportunity to hear Darcy Lang's story of his experience playing football at the highest level. Recruited from Colac in the 2013 AFL Draft, Darcy turned out 44 times for Geelong garnering a reputation as a skilful and pacey midfielder. After four years at Geelong he made the move to Carlton where he added a further 20 games before returning to his beloved Geelong Football League Tigers in Colac.

Despite navigating his way through an injury-interrupted few seasons at Kardinia Park, Wayne Hovey had the thrill of running out at the elite level for the club for whom he supported as a child. Listen in as the six-game Cat tells of his transition from Goulburn Valley side Shepparton United to wearing the hoops in six games under the tutelage of Rod Olsson.

146-game AFL player Glenn Kilpatrick proved a fabulous guest as Mark Brunger headed The Cats' Whiskers team for episode 3 of the 2024 season. 'Killer' takes the team through his journey to Essendon for 26 games, winning a Magarey Medal for West Adelaide in the SANFL, before eventually finding his way to Kardinia Park for 120 games from 1996 to 2002.
