Are We Wining Despite the Process?

I really enjoy the podcasts in general. I'm very interested in Positional Play so especially value podcasts with coaches that teach that game model as well as educators like Dough Lemov who look at things through a different lens. I'm just replying to the latest one with a minor thought. I agree it's always good to assess where you are at with a team and just because you win, isn't reason just to be satisfied with the status quo.
My basic comment is that yes the women are probably capable of playing a different way i.e. more possession oriented positional play and I wouldn't mind seeing it but what they're doing is working for them. The French men's team basically won the World Cup playing the same way but no one is asking if they should change their game model. Playing good defense and scoring on the counter is a tried and true method. I coach club and my teams routinely dominated possession last season but often lost close games to teams that sat back, capitalized on an error, and scored on a counter. Aside from trying to get my guys to stop giving the ball away in defensive and middle third, I'm not going to change the ways we play.
Why are we second guessing the women for playing a more opportunistic style? I would probably criticize the Dutch for getting away from what made them successful through the tournament.
