51: Alchemy and the Scottish Wizard

51: Alchemy and the Scottish Wizard

Alchemy is a historical practice that attempts to transmute base metals into gold. Through the influence of the Muslim world, the knowledge of alchemy spread through Europe with the help of travelling scholars like Michael Scot.
Scot was a polyglot mathematician, alchemist, apothecary and academic born in Scotland. He worked with like-minded intellectuals like Leonardo Fibonacci to translate many influential texts that spurred the Renaissance. Despite his many accolades, his legacy as a magician and wizard was cemented in popular culture with his appearance in Dante Alighieri's epic poem, Inferno.

Feels like a conversation with friends!

Once Becca and Liam got into the groove after a few minutes, it genuinely felt like I was sitting with them having a laugh and talking about ghosties. Hilarious and have great banter with each other!

The information was presented clearly and was very easy to follow. I’d never heard of Boleskine Bouse or Aleister Crowley and it was so interesting! I loved their approach of affectionately debunking the mythology around Crowley- very Lucille Bluth “good for her” energy.

Overall such good vibes from this podcast and I can’t wait for more episodes!!
