The Cult Movie Lounge Ep. 5 - Jess Franco’s Cannibal Cinema
On this episode of The Cult Movie Lounge, Re-Gor and Robert Monell delve into the cannibal films of Jess Franco. We discuss his disturbing 1980 film, Devil Hunter starring Al Cliver and Ursula Buchfellner. A vietnam veteran is hired to rescue a kidnapped model, and in doing so, he encounters a strange tribe and battles a cannibal demon. This one is not for the faint of heart, so be warned about the abundance of gore. Gird your loins and get ready for some gruesome gabbing!

The films of the great director that we focus on are: the peplum film “Goliath and the Vampires” (1961), Euro crime thriller “Moving Target” aka “Death on the Run” (1967), and the spaghetti westerns “Django” (1966), “The Great Silence” (1968), and “The Mercenary” (1968). Something special in the making
Went through their first 6 episodes and can tell this is going to be a very special podcast; with ties to other podcasts of very high quality like the Naschycast and The East meets the West. Re-Gor and Robert Monell are very knowledgeable about the subject matter and even debate conflicting information on obscure films. They choose very interesting films to talk about and offer new viewpoints on films that are endlessly talked about. Very few complaints that aren’t my even worth pointing out yet since it feels like they’re still smoothing out the kinks.
