President Biden condemns a “ferocious surge of antisemitism”

    Summary:
During a Holocaust memorial ceremony at the US Capitol yesterday, President Biden condemned a “ferocious surge of antisemitism in America and around the world” and pointed to “vicious propaganda on social media.” The good news is that no matter how hopeless we may feel in these chaotic days, we can embrace and share a hope the world can neither recreate nor destroy.

Israeli forces enter Rafah amid cease-fire negotiations with Hamas

An Israeli tank brigade took control of the Gaza Strip side of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt this morning. It comes after Hamas announced yesterday that it had accepted a cease-fire proposal to halt the war. It is human nature to respond most deeply to news that affects us most personally, but our call is to view all the world through the lens of a God of grace who loves us unconditionally.

As campus protests continue, one university’s three-part solution is working

Protesters clashed with police at the University of Virginia and disrupted graduation ceremonies across the country. More than 2,100 anti-Israel protesters have been arrested so far. However, there have been no protester disruptions at the University of Florida. Today we look at President Ben Sasse’s three-part approach to the protest movement and what we can learn from it.

Beekeeping at a baseball game and Kentucky Derby hats on Star Wars Day

Beekeeping at a baseball game and Kentucky Derby hats on Star Wars Day

A swarm of bees delayed the game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers until a beekeeper could come and transport them safely off-site. Meanwhile, as jockeys and horses prepare for the Kentucky Derby’s 150th running tomorrow, hat makers have been preparing spectacularly colorful designs for women in the stands. Today we explore the biblical interpretation of Leo Tolstoy’s words: “The meaning of life is to serve the force that sent you into the world.”

Why should you care that today is the National Day of Prayer?

Why should you care that today is the National Day of Prayer?

Today is the National Day of Prayer. In our changing culture, our nation is becoming increasingly divided and antagonistic toward one another. To heal our democracy, we look to the source of all true life transformation. The more we pray for our nation, the more our connection with God through prayer will empower and encourage us to pray for our nation and to become the vehicles of change we wish to see.

Police remove pro-Palestinian protesters from Columbia University

Late last night, police officers carrying zip ties and riot shields stormed an administration building at Columbia University being occupied by pro-Palestinian protesters and arrested dozens of people. Five Republican-led states have sued the Biden administration over its revisions to the Title IX code. In an ever-divided culture, it is our calling to emulate Christ and bring light into the darkness.

Essential Perspectives

After hearing Dr Denison speak years ago I was thrilled to learn of Denison Forum/Ministries online and in podcasts to help me discern truth in this blatantly broken world. I consider The Daily Article as essential reading/listening to arm myself in speaking truth in love. It would be mandatory curricula if I taught seminary! And I do use it regularly when teaching Bible Study. Thanks for all the effort and prayer that produces it.
