Motherhood can be traumatic! Selam's engaging personal narrative details how becoming a mother transforms every aspect of life; marriage, career, health, community, and self-identity. Selam uses a diary format to explore how the hurried, patriarchal, and unequal world leaves working moms out of breath and overwhelmed! Using collective wisdom, Selam invites us to reflect on sustainable practices for life. At times hilarious, uplifting, and frustrating. Each episode is a virtual hug from one sister mama to another! Fasika is almost here!
Fasika is my favorite Ethiopian holiday! Lots of great memories growing up in addis but over time am not sure how to sustain those cultural practices.

Trying to create resources and power in white dominant culture can be trippy. This is a letter to my family and community that loves and supports me.

A podcast like no other
I love listening to all sorts of podcasts and anxious black mom is one of the most refreshing.
Glad too have found you
Hey there Selam
So glad to have found your podcast. I am enjoying listening and learning. Thank you for sharing. I am fellow super anxious black/immigrant habesha mom ,who have muddled through my parenting journey, made it to the teen/early twenties years, learned many lessons along the way. I am excited and hopeful to notice some of the younger generation habesha women like yourself starting to communicate, share and support each other in this important journey of parenting. We need to cultivate and develop this culture of sharing information and experiences.
Keep up the good work.
Addicted!
