Karthik Bala: From Crash Bandicoot to Knockout City


This week the Eat 4 Life podcast welcomes Karthik Bala to the show. Karthik is the CEO of Velan Studios and is the brains behind the upcoming game Knockout City. Knockout City is a unique take on dodgeball sprinkled with a bit of Overwatch, Jet Set Radio Future, and a dash of NBA Jam. Knockout City hopes to disrupt the current multiplayer gaming landscape when it arrives on May 21st, and based on all the praise after its public beta, it has the tools to pull it off.


Knockout City will have cross-play at launch, so whether you're on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo consoles, you'll be able to enjoy the game with friends.


Karthik discusses the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to indie game development, and considering his involvement in games such as Crash Bandicoot and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater coupled with 20 plus years of experience in the gaming industry; it is safe to say that the gems Karthik shares are worth absorbing and applying to your entrepreneurial endeavors.
