Footballers make a statement against Donegal, where can Cork go from here?

Footballers make a statement against Donegal, where can Cork go from here?

Cork are in pole position to top their group to go straight to the All-Ireland football quarter-finals after hitting Donegal for three goals.
Denis Hurley and Barry O'Mahony join Éamonn Murphy to reflect on an inspirational victory and look ahead to their next match with Tyrone.
Can they use the result in Páirc Uí Rinn as a springboard towards Croke Park? What will happen if they fail to beat the Red Hand? Could the game on June 15-16 be a double-header with the hurling preliminary quarter-final.
They also discuss the club scene in Cork and question if divisional teams are still worth their place in the championship after three teams withdrew in the last week.
Plus an update on the hurlers, who have a vested interest in the Joe McDonagh Cup and Leinster finals.

Relief as hurlers progress but U20s hard done by; Donegal hit Cork in top form.

Relief as hurlers progress but U20s hard done by; Donegal hit Cork in top form.

Relief for the Rebels! Limerick did the business in the last quarter against Waterford on Sunday afternoon which means the Cork hurlers are now into the All-Ireland series.

Denis Hurley and Barry O'Mahony join Éamonn Murphy to look at who Pat Ryan's side have to beat to get back to Croke Park for the first time since 2021. The Rebels have only reached one All-Ireland semi-final in the last five seasons but that has to be the minimum requirement now.

We also look at the U20s' cruel defeat in the Munster final to Tipperary and the minors misfiring against Wexford. Should the minor job be a two- or three-year term, rather than the current system where a manager operates with the group from U15 to U17? Which U20s will progress to senior?
On the football front, Donegal are in Páirc Uí Rinn at the weekend and heavy favourites, what can Cork do to upset the Ulster champions?

Plus a look at the club leagues.

Incredible weekend for Cork GAA faithful.

Incredible weekend for Cork GAA faithful.

The Cork hurlers proved the victory over Limerick was no fluke by demolishing Tipperary on their own turf.
Denis Hurley and Barry O'Mahony join Éamonn Murphy to look back at a terrific trip to Tipp, where one of the biggest Cork crowds that ever descended on Thurles saw Pat Ryan's side at their absolute best.
Alan Connolly's hat-trick grabbed the headlines, his third this season, but even better Mark Coleman was back to his best and defensively Cork were well-structured and coped with the concession of an early goal.
But will it all be for nothing? They go through the best and worst-case scenario for the Rebels in the last round of Munster Hurling Championship fixtures.
It was a terrific weekend overall, with the U20s snatching a Munster semi-final win late on away to Clare, the footballers getting off to a winning start in the Sam Maguire series in Ennis and the Cork camogie team securing the provincial title.

Cork hurlers deliver in another classic but GAAGO leaves fans in the dark.

Cork hurlers deliver in another classic but GAAGO leaves fans in the dark.

After one of the great Cork hurling wins of the modern era, Denis Hurley and Barry O'Mahony join Éamonn Murphy to reflect on a classic clash and break down the implications for the Munster Championship.
Can Cork match that performance in Thurles next week and beat a Tipperary that can't afford to lose either? If Ciarán Joyce is fit, where does he come into the team? Eoin Downey or Damien Cahalane to start at number three?
They discuss the GAAGO situation, which resulted in a huge swathe of the country missing all of the Cork hurlers' brilliant games so far.
Plus a look ahead at the U20 hurlers' tricky trip to Clare for the Munster semi-final.
It's also a massive football week, with Cork heading to Ennis on Saturday night for the first game of the Sam Maguire series.

Cork hurling fans' hopes fading fast.

Cork hurling fans' hopes fading fast.

The Cork hurlers host Limerick on Saturday night but the Leeside faithful are losing hope and have little expectation of an upset.
Cork were beaten by the Déise and Clare, and Denis Hurley joins Éamonn Murphy to look at what changes and tactics we can expect from Pat Ryan and his selectors for the big hurling game.
What can they do to improve their puck-out strategy? Do they deploy a sweeper like Mark Coleman in one of the forward slots to drop deep and offer cover? They lost 3-26 to 3-24 to Clare in a wild game so keeping it tight is surely a priority.
There's also a review of the Cork U20 round-robin series, which saw Ben O'Connor's young charges heavily beaten in Tipperary in a game where their lack of physicality and ball-winning was jarring. There is no shortage of talent in the squad but can they find their best form before the Munster semi-final?
Plus the Cork footballers now know their Sam Maguire group stage opponents, with Clare first up. We look at their prospects.

Cork hurling special with John Horgan and Denis Hurley.

Every week on The Echo Sport Podcast, Éamonn Murphy and our GAA experts discuss the talking points in Gaelic games in Cork.
The Cork hurlers' season is hanging by a thread after their second Munster Championship loss.
John Horgan and Denis Hurley join us in the studio to break down the issues that cost Pat Ryan's side against Clare, from puck-out woes and poor refereeing decisions to missed goal chances and slack defending.
Why are Cork still struggling to get the right structure that prevents their back six from being exposed?
Should there be more changes like promoting Brion Saunderson to number one and bringing Ben Cunningham into the mix?
Is there any scenario where the Rebels make it through to the All-Ireland series?
Plus a look at what U20s could step up next season.
