Genuinely Disappointing

I listened to 2 episodes; the Free Solo/Captain Marvel episode and an older one with Beth McCord. First of all the indulgent nature of the banter between the two guys in the Free Solo podcast is not funny. Their “banter” is annoying and not very clever. It reminded me of when you’re stuck sitting next to loud talkers who think they’re so great, but are uninteresting and have no original thoughts. I couldn’t believe how much time they spent *trying* to be clever instead of getting to the actual review. And when they finally got to the reviews, it was lacking any insights about how the truths of God and his nature are displayed in the films. It was just a shallow film review by two amateur movie watchers who like the sound of their own voices and know little to nothing about films. To top it off, the fact that they said that the lack of a feminist message in Captain Marvel was one of the few good things about the movie...ugh...It’s a shame when the Church is so far behind the world in liberating and bringing freedom to all of God’s children. I never write reviews, but couldn’t stay silent after I heard this podcast. The ladies in the Beth McCord podcast were a bit better about keeping the banter/chatter to a minimum and letting Beth speak, but they had their moments too.

Surprisingly Funny and Relevant

Reminds me of Car-Talk but with Jesus. Took them a little bit to find their groove, but they’ve definitely hit it now. Ryan is absolutely hilarious.
