Alex Horscroft: Serving Your Way to County Champion (Bonus Interview)

The Expert Table Tennis Podcast is back (finally). But we’re currently in lockdown because of coronavirus, so I thought I’d do something different. In this episode, I’m joined by Alex Horscroft – a new guest writer for the Expert Table Tennis blog!

Alex only started playing table tennis at the age of 12 and he admits that he didn’t even take it very seriously at first. Despite that, he managed to become the top-ranked junior in his county of Suffolk. And interestingly, he attributes his success to the quality and deceptiveness of his serves.

Tom Lodziak: How to Crush It as an Adult Beginner (Bonus Interview)

Harrie’s not been very well this month so this is a special bonus episode of The Expert Table Tennis Podcast with Ben Larcombe. In this episode, I’m joined by Tom Lodziak for a chat about how to crush it as an adult beginner.

Like Harrie, Tom didn’t start playing table tennis until his mid-twenties. Over the past 12 years, he’s worked hard to improve his game, move up the levels, and he now competes (very well, I might add) in the top division of the Cambridge Table Tennis League.

    Sponsored by… Palio by ETT

Today’s episode is sponsored by Palio and in particular their new “3.0” range of table tennis bats – made in collaboration with Expert Table Tennis.

    * Palio Expert 3.0* Palio Master 3.0* Palio Legend 3.0

Harrie has been struggling with his consistency a bit recently so we’ve actually moved him back from using the Eastfield Offensive (the bat I play with) to the new Palio Legend 3.0!

Whatever your level, you should be able to find a Palio 3.0 racket that works for you.

    In this episode you’ll learn:

Great!

This is an awesome podcast, that I think will defiantly help me improve! I am a kid (under 18), and loved the first episode! Defiantly answered my questions about what I should be going for! This is a great guide!

This is one of a kind for table tennis enthusiasts, excellent guests and quality audio production.

Great Motivation

I've been listening to old episodes for a few weeks now and have really taken some really great tips from the show. It's really helped me develop a broad picture of all the skills I need to develop to get better at table tennis. I love to hear about the different methods of training from different players. I would have never thought of some things on my own like strategy and tactics, doing physical training to improve my game, or even how to mentally approach matches in order to focus on winning. It really has been a great resource and I look forward to more great episodes!
