There will come a time when God asks you to go it alone, in evidence testing. To be prepared for this testing, you must “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior” (2 Pet 3:18). Jesus used the ministry of the Holy Spirit and Scripture to pass His testing, which you need to do also. Jesus Christ cut the template for us to be Christ-like. We can live as He lived in the devil’s world. The Holy Spirit prepared the Lord Jesus Christ for 30 years before He began His public ministry. The greater the impact, the more time is needed to prepare. God will bless you in time and in eternity when you honor Him and His plan. “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Word shall not pass away” (Matt 24:35).

We all have failures, frustrations, and flaws. Some flaws are inherited and some are acquired. The key is to deal with sin. Confess your sin to God, move on, and don’t look back. “Forgetting those things which are behind me, I reach forward to those things which are ahead” (Phil 3:13). Let go of the past—guilt is a sin. If you are a Christian, it doesn’t matter what you’ve done, God will forgive you. If you fail to adhere to God’s protocol and procedures and go off down the My Way Highway it’s inevitable you’ll have problems in your life and you’ll miss the plan of God for your life. Failing spiritually means not advancing, not growing. Live the spiritual life and you can overcome the past. “Happiness belongs to those people who hear My Father’s Word and keep it” (Luke 11:27-28).

Satan would love to put doubt, anger or resentment in your mind related to some tragedy you’ve endured. “The devil goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour” (1 Pet 5:8). You might not understand why things happen but you need to understand God has made provisions for you to have confidence and courage in the face of adversity. God knows what is happening to you. Put your trust in Him. “No circumstances have come upon you that is not common to man and with those circumstances, God always provides a way out” (1 Cor 10:13). Glorify God in your adversity knowing it teaches patience, breeds integrity, and gives you confidence in the Lord. “Stand still and watch what God is about to do” (Ex 14:13). Stand still and trust in God’s promises and provisions.

Being miserable is a choice. A miserable attitude is self-induced. Satan’s myth is that circumstances or people will make you happy. This isn’t true! The Bible says, “Blessed [happy] are those who hear the Word of God and keep it” (Luke 11:28). The plan of God overrides all heartaches in life. “Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ; be steadfast" (1 Cor 15:57-58). Soul contentment and capacity for life come from the spiritual life. You can escape a miserable life by investing time in learning God’s Word. “Godliness [the mature spiritual life] is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment” (1 Tim 6:6).

Jesus Christ, when He lived on this earth, knew and used Scripture for deliverance from the temptations of Satan. That’s what we must do also. Learning Bible doctrine, the promises, principles and procedures found in the Word of God and applying them is the problem-solving device of doctrinal orientation. God’s Word has to be learned and applied for you to get sustainable energy critical to living the Christian way of life. “Study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the Word of truth” (2 Tim 2:15). Study and Grow are mandates from God. If you aren’t studying the Word of God and growing, you are sinning. The Bible is a textbook and is designed by God to be taught to you. Sometimes we confuse ourselves because we substitute ritual for reality or emotion for content. “God is not the author of confusion” (1 Cor 4:33). Studying under the authority of a well-qualified pastor is key to getting it straight and to growing to spiritual maturity. Your maturity is based on the content of the Word of God in your soul.

Hell exists. It’s a place where unbelievers go after death awaiting the Great White Throne of Judgment. Unbelievers are those who chose to not believe in Jesus Christ and rejected Him as their Savior. They will be judged for this sin and cast into the Lake of Fire to live forever in darkness and pain. The Lake of Fire is much worse than hell—it is eternal burning. “Death and hell delivered up the dead that were in them and they were judged, every man according to their deeds. Then death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire” (Rev 20:13-15). God does not want anyone to go to hell. “This is the will of the One that sent Me, that you believe in Me whom You have sent” (John 6:29). The choice is yours—heaven or hell and then the Lake of Fire. Don’t wait another minute to make the most important decision of your life. “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.” (Acts 16:31)
