In this episode I talk about the following 4 years of my life during my college career at Seton Hall University. I explain what life as a former foster kid turned adopted kid, looked like - including but not limited to homeless summers. We touch upon sibling rivalry fueled by toxic parenting as a form of control and manipulation. There's a pretty gnarly roommate horror story that I share as well. We also continue last episode's theme of identity issues and close finally that chapter. However, the main theme of this episode is how I learned to put healthy boundaries in place, and what it required to "stand on business" when those boundaries were tested. I share my story where overnight I went from being the only child, to the oldest of 5 foster siblings, and the middle child in between my foster mother's 3 adult children. I share how I was bullied by her adult children, manipulated to run a household, and confused at a very young age about my identity. We acknowledge how impactful adolescent years are on building self esteem, confidence, and trust within yourself.
