A Study on Amos 7-8
God says He will withhold His word from Israel. Although the people will finally seek God out, He will not reveal himself. They look to everything but God for solutions to their problems, so finally God takes away the opportunity to seek His wisdom in how to deal with all the problems they have created. It is one last measure He uses to bring Israel closer to Him.
Through all of life’s circumstances, we can only find total satisfaction in God. He is our Sovereign Provider, our Sure Foundation, and our Great Protector.
A Study on Amos 4-6
The apathetic attitude of the Israelites stems from where they are truly placing their hope: in the greatness of their land, goods, and armies. Comfort and success has bred complacency and pride, and God will not let His people defame His name with that attitude. Instead of pretending to have God’s favor, now they will not even want to mention God out of fear of His wrath.
A Study on Amos 1-3
God’s Judgment of the Nations- Amos 1-3
As the word of the Lord comes to Amos, God continually repeats the phrase “for three sins of ___, even for four, I will not turn back my wrath.” Each of the nations listed continually chooses to sin, although each one has its specific problem. In God’s eyes, however, all are equally guilty and deserving of judgment.
Text: Matthew 6:9a
Summary: In his model prayer, Jesus begins by bringing our attention to our Father in Heaven. When we see and behold our God above, it will radically change our prayer life into a thriving and joyous time with our Father.
