New episodes?
This is a great podcast with biblical content and great interviews, but the last episode was Jan 18th. What happened?
Questionable Exploration of The Perspicuity of Scripture
In the latest episode, three points were repeated which represent a questionably one-sided exploration of the perspicuity of scripture.
1. Scripture is both clear and complex.
2. Both the simple-minded and scholarly can understand scripture: because the Bible says this is true.
3. Your own sin is why the Bible is unclear to you.
The episode took the Bible at it’s word, instead of truly exploring the topic fully and from a realistic perspective. As someone who has (and always will) struggle with the Bible’s inherent contradictions and complexity, this episode’s second and third points came across as particularly disingenuous and condescending.
It’s a great topic. I hope he revisits it from a more real-world perspective grounded in the experience of what it’s like to wrestle with scripture.
We need more
I can’t say enough about this podcast. The church needs more content like this!
