5 - Romans are coming! What!? Wait..? Really? (500 BCE-375/400 CE) Early Iron Age
I know you’re waiting for Romans and we have them, kind of! Finland was at best in the Roman Empires periphery, but most likely in Romans margins. Finland of course never was a province of Roman Empire, but we have a slice in the coast, that did inhabit people with their cultural influence at least. Bit more about ceramics too, since it is the last time they play bigger role in our Story. Vikings have to wait their turn for bit more.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I absolutely LOVE this podcast!! The narrator/author’s soothing voice shares such beautifully rich history. I’ve been learning about recent Finnish history but was excited to see this podcast goes back to the very beginning. Thank you for making this available in English and sharing these stories! They are the very thing I’ve been looking for on my daily commute, and they fully satisfy my love of learning about history!
Wonderful dry Finnish humor and scholarship
Great podcast. Love the Sami episode especially as my family have Sami as well as mainstream Finnish forebears. Even though we’ve been in America for two generations we treasure our Finnish roots. Cannot wait for the next episode.
Kiitos! I love it!
I’ve visited Finland 3 times since 2002 and I love it there and consider it my second country. I have friends who live there, one good friend being in the band Von Hertzen Brothers. I just stumbled upon this podcast one day and just started listening to it. I’m going to sit in the sauna, drink some Salmiakki, and listen to the podcast. Keep up the great work and I love your accent! Let’s have a beer the next time I’m in Finland.
