Kanika Talwar was born and raised in India and growing up she was taught “Atithi Devo Bhava” which translates to “Guest is God” as an integral part of her culture. This is why hospitality comes natural to her.
Most of us at some point or another have had a problem choosing hospitality as a career but for Kanika, her enthusiasm and ability to engage people made her decision very clear.
In her 7 years journey in hospitality and working across cities one thing she has always enjoyed is the goodwill and strong relationships in her personal and professional life.

Declutter your mind: less stress,more peace
Life can be complicated and it’s easy to get overloaded and overwhelmed. However, with some careful planning and a bit of thought, we can make it so much easier on ourselves.
One of the ways we can do this is by decluttering.
The Collins Dictionary defines clutter as ‘a lot of things in an untidy state, especially things that are not useful or necessary.'
Clutter isn’t just the physical stuff in our homes. It can also be emotional and psychological as we busy our brains like we busy our life.
As you can see, clutter isn’t just dealt with by going through your home and getting rid of things that you don’t love, don’t need and don’t add value.

HOTEL MANAGEMENT: More than a career
Hotel management as a career offers an opportunity to discover oneself beyond your own limits, to be creative. It also gives you opportunities to travel and experience different cultures and countries which leads you to being part of a broader network of managers and hotel owners in the industry.
However doing it as a career demands a lot of passion and dedication because of the physical strains, long hours of work, working on public holidays and weekend and shift hours involved.
Franck's Journey in the front office and rooms division department, started in 2010 with one of the Protea Hotels in South Africa, Pretoria where he started as a trainee with no salary and was working as receptionist, night audit, reliever, bell boy, housekeeping attendant and telephone operator. To him, gaining the relevant knowledge and skills was more important than money.
And so he grew, from being a receptionist to a various managerial positions.
In this episode, Franck shares how Hotel Management is more than a career but a passion.
Franck says that having the right personality, will make you last longer and stand out in the industry no matter the amount of money you make out of it.
He also shares his advice to young interns and hospitality enthusiast seeking to join the industry.
