Episode 73 - Singing Lessons Series - Mastering Vibrato
When I started singing I had NO vibrato! Nope...just a straight, (not very good) tone.
I learned it! And now I have a great command over it as a tool for my singing expression.
You can too!
In this episode I give you some great exercises to develop vibrato if you don't have one or speed yours up if it's too weighty and slow!
Episode 72 - Singing Lessons Series - The most Important Thing For Singers
In episode 72 I address one of the most important thing for singers ...and it's hardly ever talked about.
As a matter of fact, I never hear anybody talk about it anymore!
And here it is:
Your vocal line.
And you have 2 of them.
The first one is the registers of the voice...they need to be "in line".
The next, and this is the one I talk about today, is the vowels and sounds we sing with.
Now before you think you've heard all this stuff, stop! You may not have...at least not the way I explain it.
And, I give you plenty of examples and exercises to build a great vocal line fast.
I really hope you enjoy this one and get a ton of value out of it!
Episode 71 - Singing Lessons Series - This Helped Me Sing Better More Than Anything!
Well, as they say in the old westerns, "Them's might strong words!"
Yes, indeed they are.
And because I think this is so important I'm not going to tell you what it is in the description because I want you to listen!
So, what are you waiting for? This will help you sing better...I can guarantee it!

Episode 70 - Singing Lessons Series - How to Belt Correctly (Not what you think)
In this episode of the Inner Singer Podcast I go over that greatly misunderstood and mysterious thing - Belting!
Or, as I say in the title:
How to Belt Correctly!
And it may not be what you expect.
Besides breathing and support, this is probably the most widely misunderstood and incorrectly sung (and taught) singing concept.
Let's clear it up now. (-:
This episode is a must listen for any singer, male or female, who is belting away...esp. if you're unsure what belting is and are not sure if you're doing it correctly.

It can assist you with difficult passages in songs and it's a great way to vocalize.
Try it! It's amazing...and so simple!
Episode 68 - Meet Your Voice Where t Is
In this episode of the Inner Singer Podcast I discuss 2 very important concepts:
1. Meeting your voice where it is on any given day.
This is VERY important as when we meet our voice where it is we can then take it where we want to go.
When we try and "be where we were yesterday - when my voice was working!!", we put unnecessary pressure on our voice and ourself.
2. When you're either singing and vocalizing alone or having a singing lesson, what constitutes a "good lesson" or vocalization session"?
If you're anything like I was you'll say - "Well singing well, of course!"
It's that kind of thinking that can really hinder and sabotage your progress! So you may want to consider reframing that.
Find out why and how!

Customer ReviewsSee All
As a traveling singer, all of the inner-dialogue that goes through my mind is discussed in this podcast. It’s so nice to have someone verbalize my feelings and help me deal with them. I cannot thank you enough!
The excellent advice in short doses is a great way to launch my teaching week. I especially love the focus on gratitude.
It's all about the process
I often feel blessed for having stumbled into Mike. With all the perspective he has to share, I couldn't imagine feeling any other way. Being with the podcast since the beginning, it's been a lot of fun to watch it grow and change. And while it has definitely grown in amount of content, each episode will circle back to one main theme: what makes us who we are, and why it is ok "to be."
Our voice is more tied to our sense of identity than any other instrument. We carry it with us everywhere. If we're feeling good, it's good. And if we're not, it's not.
In many ways, our desire to express our feelings is what drives us to explore our voice and our ability to sing. But, in our quest for improvement, we can easily forget why we sing in the first place. And, in losing an awareness for our feelings, we can lose the vital secret to realizing any skill: a love for the process.
Mike puts it best, "you are watching my process." And we are. Each episode is unscripted and flows in an easy to understand way. By doing this, Mike really shows us how to love the process, rather than merely telling us that we ought to.
This podcast helps to create the space in our mind to value what is really important: our unmeasured love of singing. This podcast has been vital in my own personal improvement in singing and beyond. I hope these comments can give it back at least a tiny bit of what it has given me. Thanks Mike for everything you do.
