My name is Greg and I have been involved in fishkeeping in various capacities over the last 20 years, and have looked after, raised and bred thousands of fish, ranging from monsters to the most macro. When I started fishkeeping, the internet was in its infancy, and now it's so full of info, it can be hard to tell whats actually useful! On The Joy Of Aquascaping Podcast, I talk about all things fish keeping and do my best to pass on what I have learned both in the business and as a hobbyist so you don't have to learn the hard way like I did!

Episode 4 - Keeping Fancy Goldfish Outside Over Winter!
Hey Folks! This week I'm talking about my raised, heated fancy goldfish pond!
I decided to move a bunch of my fancy goldfish outside 12 months a year, but being based in Ireland, there are 6 months each year where water temperatures stay below the recommended temperatures for most fancy goldfish, and a good few months where freezing temperatures are possible, so how on earth did I manage to keep my fancy Goldfish at a balmy 22C all winter? Well, that's the topic were discussing today!
I really found it difficult when I was setting this up for myself to get any information, and I get asked about it all the time, so I've done a video on my blog on www.TheJoyOfAquascaping.com and thought it would be worth discussing some of the key points in this weeks podcast!

Episode 3 - Filtration!
Another Deep Dive this week into Filtration!
Here we look at why we need to filter our water, the 3 types of filtration, and how we can use them in combination to create our own bespoke filtration system.
There are a few things which we will inevitably need to filter in order to keep healthy aquariums, I say aquariums and not fish, because the health of our fish is dependent on the good bacteria which are present in our aquariums and filters which help break down waste by products, produced as a result of feeding our fish.
We take a detailed look here into Chlorine, Ammonia, Mechanical, Chemical and Biological Filtration as well as techniques to ensure you are maximizing the efficiency of your filtration system.

Episode 2 - Feeding Goldfish!
There are a lot of misconceptions and myths out there about feeding fancy goldfish, but in this podcast, we are gonna break a few of them down, and talk about the do's and don'ts of feeding goldfish!
Before even discussing what to feed, I think it is important to know how your goldfish utilizes its food, so in this deep dive, we look at your goldfishes digestive tract, its components and what they do, the breakdown of food and the importance each nutrient has in your goldfishes diet, and after looking at food, I discuss the swim bladder, what it is, its function and the role of food in maintaining swim bladder health.
I still haven't set up a schedule for this as its early days, but will post a schedule once I get to grips with producing each episode, and work out a few kinks, of which there are many, but it early days and things can only get better (I hope!), but all going well I am hoping to make this a weekly fishkeeping podcast!
We have all seen the news this week, the death of innocent black people, police brutality, these are dangerous times, and I just want to say stay safe, look after each other, and take care of yourselves. Black Lives Matter, and here at the Joy of Aquascaping, racism, bullying, hate or prejudice will never be tolerated.

Raising Baby Goldfish Fry!
Hi folks, welcome to The Joy Of Aquascaping Podcast, where all things fishkeeping will be on the table! I wanted to start the podcast somewhere, so why not at the beginning of the life of a Goldfish!
