The Late Antique Podcast Liam Greenacre

The settlement of the barbarians is one of the most hotly contested areas of debate in Late Antique history. This podcast covers it through an analysis of its historiographical context and suggests we should move away from a 'one rule fits all' approach.

This podcast will cover the lethal Justinian Plague which affected the Late Antique world. I will cover the 'minimalist' view of its impact, before arguing for its significance. Finally, I discuss the relationship between the humanities and the sciences, in light of the latter being increasingly used to understand the plague.
 
 

Today, the term 'vandal' has connotations of destructiveness. However, the term originally comes from a barbarian group from Late Antiquity. This episode shall examine the Vandals and see if their poor reputation is deserved.
