Keep up with all things Metallica by going straight to the source. Now you can get your news directly from those entrenched in the band’s own Northern California headquarters. This weekly report is hosted by Steffan Chirazi and Renée Richardson, two members of the Metallica Camp.
Steffan is a long-time rock scribe and editor of the band’s online mag, So What!, whose days covering Metallica began in the 1980s with the British music magazines Sounds and Kerrang! Renée is the Director of Philanthropy for the band’s foundation, All Within My Hands, and also has a storied background in music as a well-known Bay Area radio personality.
Each week will sound a little different, but you’ll always remain in the loop. Steffan and Renée will keep you posted with the latest news and updates from Metallica HQ and the road as the M72 Tour makes its way around the world. They’ll bring you mini-features for a little peek behind the curtain, and you’ll learn bits of info you won’t find anywhere else through chats with everyone from members of the road crew to poster artists, from fans to band members themselves!
They won’t just tell you what you need to know; they’ll also get to the bottom of what you want to find out! Listeners can submit questions, and Steffan and Renée will get to work finding answers.
You’ll enjoy all of this and more with The Metallica Report, your quick, weekly fix covering our most relevant topics of the day.

The week of May 8, 2024 on The Metallica Report…
It’s all about the fans! Local chapter members and superfans Oliver (Head of St. Germany), Eric (Virginia Fuel), and Derek, James, and Glenn (Nebraska’s The Outlaw Corn) all join Steffan and Renée for a roundtable. As everyone gets ready for a summer of live M72 shows, these longtime fans talk about what they are most looking forward to on this summer tour (spoiler alert: the camaraderie of the Metallica Family), their favorite riffs, and of course, what M72 production element they can’t wait to experience again.

Robert Trujillo & Infectious Grooves
The week of May 1, 2024 on The Metallica Report…
Steffan spends the day/night with Metallica’s bass-master, Robert Trujillo, as he slaps and grooves with a blast from his past as a member of the funk/metal supergroup Infectious Grooves. Steff hangs with the band during their sound check at their last stop on a mini eight-city tour in Berkeley, CA. Robert fills us in on the familial vibe of this tour, his foray into set design that night, and the band’s influences, and answers the burning question of which Metallica song he would like Infectious Grooves to cover.

Brian Tatler of Diamond Head
The week of April 10, 2024 on The Metallica Report…
Riff master Brian Tatler cranks up the Wayback Machine to share stories of Diamond Head’s biggest (and possibly only) fan in America in 1981: a 17-year-old named Lars Ulrich. Turns out, that same kid was starting a band of his own. A few traded covers and several decades later, and the rest is history!

Simply the best
This is the best podcast out there. The host are great. The stories are great. And the band interviews are the best!
Studio Tour Episode!
Great episode by the way! I just wanted to ask is there any YouTube or video of this podcast? It would be amazing to see parts of the studio you guys visited. Especially at the beginning where you talk about the big Ulrich shield. I was the contest winner of the So What magazine, and I created that shield for Lars and the band! I’m so happy it’s at the headquarters!
Clint Wells!!
I love this podcast and it was great to hear Clint Wells on this episode! His eloquent delivery is fun and easy to listen to. Hopefully, he will have more appearances on The Metallica Report!
