What is a middle-aged man?
According to the Collins dictionary: If you describe someone as middle-aged, you mean that they are neither young nor old and are between the ages of 40 and 60 to be usually considered middle-aged.
I’d go as far as saying we are probably all of the above, but also a bloke that in 2023 has probably had more hopes, dreams and career landscapes ripped up and put on the bonfire called ‘experience’. We’ve hit more emotional, physical, technological and cultural buffers than a web page on a dial-up internet connection. In our dark times, we reach for books and magazines that have pictures of blokes with abs you could mark on an ordinance survey map or guru’s that have made millions of dollars from wearing white linen trousers on a beach or got you to release the beast within…which in some circumstances has got them arrested for public indecency.
This podcast is going to follow my journey as a fully-fledged, card carrying, moving on from another failed relationship, career breaked and life weary middle-aged man with experts, comedians and the odd famous person, from all over the world that can help me, you and your mate down the pub (or cocktail bar of choice), on how to be the very best middle-aged man we can be without the need to pull our punches, watch our “P’s and Q’s”, feel guilty about not being ‘OK’, embarrassed at things that grow unexpectedly, (or those that don’t), talk about some of the difficult things we really don’t want to, as well as a nostalgic look back at the things that the kids of today call ‘vintage’, when in truth we were having the best of times and laying the foundations for the stuff that they think they invented.
It’s the Middle Aged Man Podcast and Gentlemen…and it’s arrived in a glossy red soft top sports car, a Harley Davison or one of those Electric sensible cars...

Must listen for anybody with a business
Great episode about recruiting 5-Star employees.
Danielle got me thinking about my own recruiting efforts. It’s so important to be clear and set the correct expectation in the recruitment process.
Flexibility is a great way to get the most productivity
Danielle Mulvey’s idea about getting the most productivity from employees by being flexible with employees and allowing them to work from home is such a hot topic nowadays. With how the business world has changed since Covid allowing people to work part time and from home helps them keep their work life balance and be more productive.
Walking Away Smarter
Your guest in episode 130 shared a lot of wise advice, especially when discussing available talent in the market. I have never really thought about percentages when it comes to top-rated employees. Finding them is much harder right now and plus we are competing against so many other companies who are also looking for the best.
What I need to learn how to do is write better job descriptions so I can attract the top candidates – I have already reached out to the All In Company to see how they can help me and my businesses. Thanks for hosting and bringing this topic to light!
