Reid joins Orvis Gunroom Manager Greg Carpiniello to discuss what's new and exciting in the Orvis Gun Room. The duo sets out to highlight the Top 5 recent consignment guns to come through the Orvis Gun Room, but they wind up discussing a few extras. It's hard for two shotgun geeks to stay on task.

Sporting Lead-Free, with Hannah Leonard
Reid is joined by Hannah Leonard, Program Director for the nonprofit Sporting Lead-Free. Headquartered in Wyoming, Sporting Lead-Free is self-described as an initiative of hunters and anglers dedicated to maintaining our sporting heritage, wildlife populations, ethics, and rights. Leveraging education as a vehicle for change, and steadfastly avoiding a push for regulation or legislation, the org encourages sportspeople to use lead alternatives in hunting and fishing environments. Hannah uses data and storytelling to discuss the impact of that change and the challenges to broader acceptance. She also explores resources and tactics that can help sportspeople make the shift without detracting from success in the field, or significant impact on the pocketbook.
Customer Reviews
Your guest Kristi Noel
Several years ago you had Kristi Noem on the show talking about pheasant hunting in South Dakota. Your interview of her was nice, non-political and I recall she talked about her dogs, the farm where she also hunts, and training dogs. Given her revelation that she shot a GSP puppy because it wasn’t responding to training and went after a chicken, is there anyway you can make a statement about how she should have re-homed the dog, hired a qualified trainer, or returned the dog to the breeder rather than shooting it? Don’t think you or Orvis want to be seen as endorsing that kind of activity. Otherwise, great podcast.
Nice 12, 2023 South TX Quail episode
Regarding the downward trend of shooting skills among the apparently all male south TX quail hunting set over the years: “I blame the wives.” Super hilarious joke. Give me a break. Nothing like being totally excluded and even chastised from our hunting community that gives constant lip service to diversity and bringing in new demographics. Giant eye roll.
Excellent Outdoor Podcast
Reid’s blend of stories, guests, and good old fashioned gun and gun dog talk is such a pleasure for anyone involved in the uplands in America. The occasional focus on outdoor literature has also turned me on to a whole new way of enjoying this space.
side note: I’m pretty surprised at some of the sporadic negative reviews on here. I’ll just say that if you cosplay G.I. Joe on the weekends this podcast probably isn’t for you. This is more of a blued steel and walnut kind of scene.
