My favorite Retirement podcast

If you’re into detailed technical aspects of retirement finances, this is the best podcast out there. I listen to a number of retirement podcasts and get bored with the fluffy goal-setting discussions that are common in other podcasts. But these guys focus on technical aspects like how social security works, understanding taxes, etc. They do deep dives that you won’t find anywhere else and they have great personalities. I’ve learned a lot listening to these guys. I Also like that their shows aren’t filled with constant self promoting commercials like some other podcasts in this category.

BEST retirement podcast

This is the BEST retirement podcast out there, and I listen to 7 or 8 of them. Look, all the experts know the quirks of the retirement realm. Some of the quirks will apply to you, and some of them won’t. Where the Retirement and IRA Show shines is in the hosts’ innate ability (or are they silently querying their computers?) to tell when a listener’s problem can benefit from a quirky solution. As a listener, YOUR takeaway is having your awareness raised as to WHEN you should seek a change in your plans. For example, I knew about Roth IRAs, but I never realized that a one-time change in my income made me newly eligible for a Roth IRA. I knew about Social Security taxation rules, but I never recognized that I fell into the income range where I could easily cap my taxable Social Security by INCREASING my retirement withdrawals. Listening to this podcast is time well spent!

Com’n guys that Phau interview was a disaster!

I gave the show a 5 star rating because I really do appreciate it, BUT -
You have a great guest like Phau on and spend the entire time explaining your approach, which you talk about constantly already clearly looking for approval from Phau. I seriously challenge you to go back through the interview and determine how much time you spoke compared to Phau. 85-15% at best, more like 90-10. He had to be stunned when with 10 minutes left you both couldn’t think of a question. This after not asking him any. God lord, he’s on a book tour. Ask about the book in some other context beside your philosophy. What a disaster.
