The Ringing Ear Podcast (brought to you by KillBoringMusic.com) is a show hosted by two middle aged former record store geeks who like to discuss all things music. Co-hosts Jeff & Jobe are here to let you know what's good, what to avoid, and what'll keep your ears ringing.
Happy New Year! The guys took an unconventional turn for their year-end episode and discussed someone else's top 5 of 2021 (in this case it was @Pitchfork). They ask questions like, "What kind of stripper would dance to Floating Points?" and ponder why P4k writers use terms like musique concrète.
Also, new music from @musicbycivic, @200StabWounds, and @anniekeating.music!
Jeff & Jobe are back at it, this time discussing songs named after Women, a bit about Al Green & a hot bowl of grits, and who is actually IN Duran Duran. Plus #NewMusic by @ToeKnee_Wright, Acid Mammoth, and @EisenbergSounds!
Jeff & Jobee take a trip back to 25(+) years ago to talk about what they would have been into and what they like better in retrospect. We also talk new music from @mogwaiband and @pompokotheband, plus MOUTHBREATHER in the unsigned artist spotlight!
Interview with Knox Colby of Enforced
Jobe sits down with Knox Colby, lead vocalist for Richmond, Virginia crossover death metal band Enforced to talk about the stresses of putting out an album during a pandemic, the reach of Jose Mangin and Liquid Metal, and the glory of playing shows on the fly.
Favorites of 2020
We talk music favorites from God's least favorite year: 2020, featuring the following phrases:
* "What IS a power trio?"
* "That's why I'm here is to shove shit down your throat, m**********r!"
* "I love this album so much I can't even put it into words..."
Plus, one of Jeff's kids screaming at 1:05:27, and music by: Split Moon, Fiona Apple, The Mavericks, exhalants, Vulnere, Hum, Brandy Clark, Mary Halvorson's Code Girl, The Fearless Flyers, Deftones, and Spanish Love Songs.
Happy Holidays & Happy New Year!
The guys sit down to put things into perspective, post-election yet mid-pandemic, and talk music that is prescriptively relaxing. Plus, new music from: #Daturus, AC/DC, System Of A Down, & Cloudkicker!
You need more music in your life
Listen to this. As a man in his thirties, I don’t always know where to go for new tunes. Luckily this podcast has incredibly knowledgeable hosts who will guide you down the groove train to both the familiar and unknown. I’ve discovered so much wonderful music thanks to this pod. Check it!
A great podcast for the apocalypse.
I’ve been sheltering in place for *weeks* now with one of the hosts of The Ringing Ear (as well as three children). It is a rare thing for me to have a moment to myself. Yet, whenever I do, the first thing I listen to is the latest episode of The Ear. If that isn’t a glowing recommendation, I don’t know what is.
Conversations about music are the absolute best
Jeff and Jobe, two former record store clerks, release fun conversations about a variety of musical topics, providing listeners with their top 3 tunes related to those subjects. They never claim to be experts, and the songs selections are subjective. I love that they encourage listeners to engage with the podcast by posting conversation starters on their social media accounts. Top notch music chats!
