Now take that $500,000

Multiply it by 4%. About $20,000 per year in retirement. It was formed many years ago and thank goodness it was. ETFS we’re not there in 1935 when SS was started. It is like an annuity, not great but Ok. Not sure how it could be migrated to a 401k. Multiply by 6% and it would be about $30,000 for life of individual in the typical annuity calculation. Not an ideal system, but it works for the many individuals who are not saving at all. If we start over and give people the chance to participate or not participate in a retirement system, how many would opt out?

Favorite Financial Podcast

I’ve been listening to Scott since 2016. I had just paid off my graduate school loans (16 years early!), and wanted to stay debt free for the rest of my life. Scott’s content, fresh approach, and sound financial advice instantly hooked me, and his humor, cat jokes, and Star Trek references keep me listening so many years later.
