A Prince Amongst Men ,

Engaging and Informative

The show covers a number of different gaming topics, only some of which I’m interested in - specifically Exalted RPG. I’ve listened to a few of the other episodes and they’re interesting, but I’m not the target audience for them. With that in mind, my comments here will be, primarily, about the Exalted episodes.

In short, they’re great.

It is, predominantly, an actual play show, and the cast is engaging, diverse, fun, and they really put the effort in to deliver thoughtful and nuanced characters who engage with the material. The players, obviously, have different levels of familiarity with the Exalted setting, but the host/Storyteller Chazz, has an abundance of knowledge and ideas to share with them. That means that listeners get to learn along with the players. The story is a great introduction to running a game in Exalted and showcases the system very well.

Fall of Jiara is a must-listen

And the review and interviews with developers of other games are amazing. So great!

Pleasant Podcast to listen to while working on other things.

The Story Told is a great podcast with enthused, energetic, and informed hosts. The topics they cover in gaming can often be dull, but their dynamic approach and critical appreciation of the subject matter make the discussions a pleasant listen. Their interviews are thoughtful and well balanced between host and guest, and their actual game plays are well done and edited to cut down on unnecessary chatter. Over all, a fantastic find for both seasoned players and beginners looking to get into gaming.
