Living and breathing the mountains I feel a new urgency for the climate crisis - but I also feel overwhelmed and don't know where to begin. In the Sustainability Dialogues I ask leading sustainability expert Dr. Johan Rockström questions about the carbon crisis, extreme weather, veganism, electric cars, glaciers... Johan, although knowing all the most up to date science somehow Johan is able to be positive and inspiring regarding the developments of the climate crisis and gives us, as individuals, the tools and motivation to make changes in our lives that means we will protect our winters and the planet for future generations. The Sustainability Dialogues: Food with Xavier De Le Rue & Johan Rockström
In today’s episode, Johan Rockström and myself are talking about food, which is surely one of the biggest debates in the climate crisis, one with so many conflicting arguments of what is the right thing to do but as always Johan brings clear and manageable solutions to the table.
The Sustainability Dialogues: Transport with Xavier De Le Rue & Johan Rockström
In todays episode, Johan Rockström and myself are going to look at Transportation, this was recorded pre-corona lockdown, so I think some of our mindsets have already shifted a lot, but everything we discuss from electric cars, bio fuels, batteries, flying and carbon-offsetting remains relevant.
The Sustainability Dialogues: Ice, Glaciers & The Climate Crisis with Xavier De Le Rue & Johan Rockström
In today's episode we start talking about a subject very close to my heart - the glaciers and the poles, which leads us down so many roads; from drinking water to sea level rise, geo-political security and the ascent of right wing populism all of which is pretty overwhelming and scary, but Johan is all about finding solutions and we go on to discuss the growth of renewables through to carbon capture storage.
The Sustainability Dialogues: Covid 19 & Climate Change
Johan Rockström and Xavier De Le Rue discuss the Climate Crisis & Covid 19 and how they are inextricably interlinked.
The Sustainability Dialogues: The big picture, extreme weather patterns & how to beat the carbon crisis.
The Sustainability Dialogues are a series of podcasts from me, Xavier De Le Rue, looking at the climate crisis. I have always felt too guilty to discuss the climate crisis - as someone who has taken so many international flights, helicopters to access lines, promotion of consumption I didn’t think I was the right person to speak up. But on listening to Dr. Johan Rockstrom at the Greening Verbier event last year he changed my mind, no one has inspired me to make a change more than Johan, but not only that, to feel capable of actually making a difference on a global scale with my actions and I hope that this podcast will inspire the same in you.

Sustainability for outdoor enthusiasts
Xavier takes a humble approach to learning about climate and asks the vulnerable questions that many of us think about & possibly carry guilt about pursuing our adventures. I’ve really enjoyed hearing Johan’s focus on system change rather than asking “the 80% to sacrifice” for lasting impact. Thanks for using your platform for this discussion, Xavier.
Great new take on what’s happening in the world and especially with regards to winter from experts on climate & a legend in snowboarding!
Gave me something to think about - a great listen! Can’t wait for more episodes!
